The number of homes and condominiums for sale in central Ohio increased to 5,589 in September which is up 2.6 percent from one year ago. This breaks a 91-month streak of year-over-year declines in inventory according to the Columbus REALTORS® Multiple Listing Service.

Central Ohio Housing Report - August 2018

Central Ohio homes and condos continue to perform producing an increase in the average price of a home sold in central Ohio this year.  Through August this year, the average price of a home sold was $229,033, which is up 6.4 percent from a year ago. The median sales price was $195,000, up 7.4 percent from August 2017.

The inventory of homes for sale in central Ohio in July climbed to 5,184, a 5.5 percent increase over June, although still down 5.7 percent from July 2017. This is the highest inventory of homes listed for sale since last fall according to the Columbus REALTORS® Multiple Listing Service.

Foreclosures and short sales were down 36.1 percent from last year and the lowest on record for central Ohio, according to the Q2-2018 Lender-Mediated Properties report from Columbus REALTORS®.

Central Ohio homes only spent an average of 23 days on the market during the month of June, which is 4 days fewer than May and is now the lowest on record, according to the Columbus REALTORS® Multiple Listing Service.

Central Ohio Housing Report - April 2018

Columbus ranked No. 4 last month on Realtor.com's list of the nation's hottest housing markets based on how many hits each home listing gets as well as how quickly homes are selling. The national spotlight found the central Ohio area as showing activity increased 12 percent in April versus the previous month and homes spent just over a month (33 days) on the market during the month of April, according to the Columbus REALTORS® Multiple Listing Service.

During the first quarter of 2018, the share of distressed inventory, sales and new listings was roughly one in twenty for central Ohio according to the Q1-2018 Lender-Mediated Properties report from Columbus REALTORS®.

Central Ohio Housing Report - March 2018

During the month of March, there were 3,485 homes and condos for sale in central Ohio, inching up over February by 3.2 percent. However, compared to a year ago, inventory is still down 17.3 percent. This left central Ohio with a 1.3 months supply of inventory at the current sales pace, according to the Columbus REALTORS® Multiple Listing Service.

At the end of February, the number of homes and condos for sale was down to 3,376, which is just slightly (0.1) percent lower than January and 21.2 percent less than February 2017. This marks the 85th consecutive month of year over year declines in inventory and left central Ohio with a 1.2 months supply of inventory at the current sales pace, according to the Columbus REALTORS® Multiple Listing Service.

Central Ohio housing inventory continued to decrease during the month of January to 3,410, which is 12 percent below December and 21.2 percent less than January 2017. This left central Ohio with a 1.2 months supply of inventory at the current sales pace and the 84th consecutive month of year over year declines in inventory, according to the Columbus REALTORS® Multiple Listing Service.
