Charitable Deeds
Area Realty Associations contribute to their communities in a number of ways. Here is a sampling of those good deeds in 2003...
The Columbus Commercial Industrial Investment REALTORS® (CCIIR) has contributed $2000 this year to Junior Achievement.
The Delaware-Knox-Licking Morrow Suburban REALTORS® Assn. (DKLM) contributes to Delaware (Big Walnut High School), Knox (Centerburg High School) and Morrow (Highland High School) scholarship funds. We let the principals of the respective schools decide who gets the scholarships.
The Hilliard Area Realty Association has given $1000 college scholarships to four Hilliard seniors, adopted a family in need for the holidays to provide them with holiday gifts and food, and made a donation to the Hilliard Senior center bus fund to help them buy a new bus. The Association also gave $500 to the new Hilliard YMCA.
The Madison County Area Realty Association (MCARA) has donated to the following charities: Hospice $500, Coping with Cancer $500, Madison Co. Junior Achievement $500, West Jefferson Food Pantry $500, Habitat for Humanity $500, Diabetes Association $500. Nearly everything that we make in the year is returned to the community.
The Midtown Area Real Estate Association (MAREA) was very fortunate to have a substantial carry-over fund this year. Therefore, it was our pleasure to make contributions to the following: CORPAC ($1,500); Franklinton Development Association ($675); Project Open Hand ($250); Northside Development ($675); Neighborhood Services ($600); German Village Society ($400); Victorian Village ($400); Old Town East ($400); Merion Village ($400); Downtown Columbus City Hop ($400); Actors’ Summer Theatre ($250); Big Brothers/Big Sisters ($150); CBR REALTOR® Foundation Fund ($200); Ohio Cancer Research ($200); St. Mary’s Catholic Church Building Fund in memory of James Morbitzer, founder of ABC Gas Line Warranty ($250) In addition, the wife of one of our members serves in the Naval Reserve, and spent her active duty time this summer in Ecuador. We were asked for a donation to their “book fund” for the children in Ecuador, and were pleased to give them $200.
The Northeast/Westerville Realty Association (N.E.W.R.A.) helped the following organizations and events during 2003: Material Assistance Providers, Inc.; K-9 Companions; CORPAC; Westerville Evening of Elegance; CBR REALTOR® Foundation Fund; Westerville Caring & Sharing; Westerville Area Schools; Westerville Area Resource Ministry; Fruit of the Vine Homeless Ministry; Lee Slater/Scott Bell Fund.
The West Area Realty Association has given $200 to each of the following High Schools: Reedy, Westland, Briggs, Franklin and West High for their scholarship funds. They also gave $1,000 to the Hillcrest Baptist Church Food Pantry, $1,500 to Highland Elementary School for their children’s’ Christmas Fund; $500 to the Holly Family Food Pantry, $200 to Homes on the Hill and $100 to the CBR Celebrity Waiters Luncheon.
The Women’s Council of REALTORS® (WCR) is donating toys for the Toys for Tots toy drive. WCR will be having people bring toys for the December 11th installation, which will be at the Columbus Marriott North. |

Annual Meetings & Holiday Gatherings
December 5 - DKLM (Delaware, Knox, Licking, Morrow) Realty Association is having its annual Christmas Breakfast on December 5, 2003 at P.J.’s on Rt. 36 in Sunbury at 9am. The cost of the breakfast is $5 and bring a $5 gift exchange. For any questions contact Sue Nippert, 614-776-2151.
December 6 - The Delaware County Board of REALTORS® Holiday Party and Awards Dinner is set for December 6, 2003 at Lehner’s Country Gatherings, Radnor, Ohio.For more information contact Roland Higgins, 740-965-9600.
December 8 - Southern Delaware County Real Estate Group Holiday Party at Scioto Reserve - Monday, December 8th. Social Hour (cash bar) starting at 12:30. Buffett Lunch starting at 1:00. All participants are encouraged to bring a toy or gift card as a donation to “People in Need” which is a social charity serving Delaware County. Door prizes will be given!!! December 16 - The Independent Brokers Association (IBA) will host its annual Business Meeting and Holiday Luncheon on Tuesday, December 16, 11:30 am to 1:30 pm at the New Albany Country Club.
