October home sales still outpacing last year
(November 18, 2003) Central Ohio homes sales are still outpacing last year. In October, over 2,071 residential homes were sold, an increase of 13 percent over the 1,833 homes sold in that same month last year. This brings our year to date sales to 20,968 which is still 10.3 percent higher than the same period last year, according to the Columbus Board of REALTORS®.
“Even with some pretty bizarre weather fluctuations over the last couple months, buyers’ interest in the market wasn’t dampened,” said Bob Miller, President of the Columbus Board of REALTORS®. “Showing activity is still strong and the listing inventory remains high as we enter the holiday season.”
Sale prices of homes are appreciating well. Year to date, the average sales price is $167,748 – a 6 percent increase over the sale price last year. As of October 31, 2003, total homes sales dollar volume has exceeded $3.5 billion which is almost 17 percent higher than the same period last year.
“These numbers tell the story“, says Miller. “The purchase of a home in our Central Ohio area continues to be one of the best investments someone can make.”
