August Home Sales up 21 percent! (September 18, 2003) -- Sales of residential homes in Central Ohio rose for the eighth consecutive month in August to an all time record high. At 2,584 sales, August home sales eclipsed last year’s sales by 21.3 percent. Year to date, there have been 16,505 homes sold which is 8.5 percent ahead of the same period last year.
Home Sales up 16R0in July (August 15, 2003) -- Over 2,497 homes were sold compared to the 2,144 homes sold in July of 2002. Year to date, home sales are 5.8 percent ahead the same period last year. At $178,453, the average home sale price in July was 7.3 percent higher than the average one year ago.
Despite rise in interest rates, housing sees signficant gains (August 15, 2003) -- July home sales this year saw a 16.5 percent increase last month. Over 2,497 homes were sold compared to the 2,144 homes sold in July of 2002. Year to date, home sales are 5.8 percent ahead the same period last year.
Home Sales Jump 14R0in June (July 16, 2003) -- Central Ohio home sales saw a 14.3 percent increase last month. Over 2,384 homes were sold compared to the 2,086 homes sold in June of 2002. At the half way mark, year to date home sales are 3.6 percent ahead the same period last year.
Home Sales Blooming in Central Ohio (June 18, 2003) -- Existing home sales in Central Ohio set another record last month. May saw 2,331 existing homes sold, a 4.2 percent jump over the 2,236 homes sold last year in May. Year to date, REALTORS have sold 8,495 homes which is almost 2 percent ahead of the same period last year.
War had little affect on Central Ohio home sales (May 21, 2003) -- Our recent war seemed to have little affect on Central Ohio home sales which are just slightly behind last year. At 6,244, year-to-date home sales are 2.5 percent behind last year’s 6,407. In April, 1,988 existing single family homes were sold compared to 2,039 last year which is also 2.5 percent behind.
First quarter home sales down slightly; average sales price increasing (April 18, 2003) -- At 4,179, first quarter home sales are 4.3 percent behind last year’s first quarter sales of 4,365 according to the Columbus Board of REALTORS®.
February home sales strong despite frigid temperatures (March 18, 2003) -- In February of 2002, 1,348 residential homes were sold in the greater Columbus area versus 1,378 homes sold in February of 2001 despite the incredibly frigid temperatures over the last couple months.
Home Sales strong but face serious risk with proposed state budget taxes (February 19, 2003) -- Local homes sales in January were a strong 1,148. This number is about 5% lower than the previous year but is not surprising as January of 2002 saw a 22% spike in home sales! January 2003 home sales are still 20-45% ahead of home sales during the same month over the last six years.
2002 Home Sales Shatter Records (January 22, 2003) - Home Sales in 2002 shattered records with 22,267 homes sold, up 6.5 percent over 2001 and 16.4 percent higher than 2001.
November home sales continue to set records (December 17, 2002) - Year to date, home sales are 6% ahead of last year.
