GENERAL TEMPO

1. I'm experiencing strange issues in Tempo. Either buttons don't work, I get a working message with no page, or else pages print on 3 pages instead of one.

1) Alternative Browsers
Typically strangeness in Tempo is caused by using an alternative, non-supported web browser. These include but are not limited to: AOL Browser, Firefox, Safari, Mozilla, Netscape, etc. Internet Explorer is the only supported browser with Tempo.

If you are an AOL subscriber, simply minimize AOL, open up Internet Explorer, and use it instead to login and work with CBR Tempo.

2) Out of Date Favorite or Shortcut
If you are certain you are using Internet Explorer, you possibly may be using an out of date desktop shortcut or browser favorite. If you're using either, you will want to delete this favorite and/or desktop shortcut as using such methods of access is not recommended by MLS Tech support. We recommend creating a favorite of the main board website at

3) Internet Security and Firewall Related Issues
In rarer cases, Tempo can be blocked by some all-in-one Internet security programs and Firewall programs. Common features including script blocking and some firewalls will incorrectly block crucial javascript files which are required for Tempo to work. For temporary solutions, you will want to give technical support a call for assistance. For permanent solutions, you will need to contact the technical support for your security program, your Internet Provider, IT Department, or local computer support person for further assistance in configuring your particular installed security or firewall program to allow Tempo to function correctly.

2. Tempo is prompting me to change my password, but it keeps saying invalid character.

This happens primarily from using an alternative, non-supported web browser. These include but are not limited to: AOL Browser, Firefox, Safari, Mozilla, Netscape, etc.

Internet Explorer is the only supported browser with Tempo. Most commonly this occurs from using the AOL browser. If you are using AOL, simply minimize AOL, open up Internet Explorer, and use it instead to login and work with CBR Tempo.

3. When I print, the text is really small, how do I make the print font size larger?

Typically this is from using the Internet Explorer Print options rather than using the recommended print methods within Tempo. As a rule of thumb, when printing in Tempo do the following:

1. Look for a grey "Print" or "Printer Friendly" button or option within the web page. This is usually located at the top or bottom of the page. If there is no grey print button, proceed to #2.
2. In the situation of no printer friendly button, do the following: Somewhere within the webpage itself, right click on the page. A small menu of options should appear. Choose Print from this menu of options and print the page this way.

If you've followed these steps and the size is still small, it may be a setting issue. Check the following:
1. If you're using Internet Explorer 7.0, make sure the zoom size is set to 100%. The zoom size option has a magnifying glass icon next to it in the lower right corner of the web page. Also check Text Size. Go to Page then select Text Size. Make sure this is set to "Medium".
2. If you're using Internet Explorer 6.0, make sure text size is set to "Medium". You can find the text size setting by going to "View" at the top of Internet Explorer and choosing "Text Size" from the list of menu options.

4. I'm only seeing 99 listings when I search. How do I get more?

You can get a maximum of 250 listings through quick search, you will want to go through the Statistics option to get more listings first.

1. Instead of hitting "Search" on the left side, choose "Statistics".
2. Once on the statistics page, Hit the "View Requested Listings" button.
3. Tempo will now give a maximum of 250 results.

5. How do I create a favorite in Internet Explorer to Tempo?

When creating a favorite for Tempo, you will not want to bookmark Tempo directly as this may cause future issues. You will want to bookmark the main board website only.

1. Open up Internet Explorer.
2. Go to http://www.columbusrealtors.com

4. Locate the two yellow star icons. Click the one to the right that has a green plus in the icon.
a. Choose "Add to Favorites".
b. Under the "Name" field, erase what is in there and type "Tempo Login".
c. Hit the "Add" button.
d. Now when you want to access the Tempo website, you may do so by clicking your favorite, then clicking the "Login to Tempo" button on the right side of the page.

5. Click on the "Favorites" option at the top of the screen.
a. Choose the "Add to Favorites".
b. Under the "Name" field, erase what is in there and type "Tempo Login".
c. Hit the "Add" button.
d. Now when you want to access the Tempo website, you may do so by clicking your favorite, then clicking the "Login to Tempo" button on the right side of the page.

6. Where can I find self help guides in Tempo?

Self help guides are only available from within the Tempo system. Each guide is in PDF format. Ensure you have a working PDF reader before proceeding. Adobe Acrobat is the most common free pdf reader.

1. Login to Tempo
2. Choose "Member Info" then on the drop down menu click on "Columbus Info"
3. On the "Columbus Info" page, locate the section labeled "CBR TEMPO REFERENCE MATERIALS".
4. Self help guides are located within this section.

7. When I try to access one of the agent reports, or printer friendly icon, no popup comes up.

Tempo can often be blocked by pop-up blockers and security programs. Try holding down your control key while clicking the particular button you want to view and continue to hold for several seconds. If this resolved the issue, then you know it's just a popup blocker issue. You'll then want to allow "cbrmls.columbusrealtors.com" to your popup blocker. If the control trick doesn't work however, it's most likely a security program blocking your access.

Common security and firewall programs include but are not limited to: Norton Internet Security, McAfee Internet Security, EZ-Firewall, ZoneAlarm, etc. The website "cbrmls.columbusrealtors.com" needs to be added as a trusted site within your particular firewall program. Please refer to your ISP, IT Department, or local computer support person for further assistance in configuring your particular installed security or firewall program to allow popups from Tempo.

In less frequent cases, Tempo popup do not appear due to lack of RAM memory (e.g. not meeting the basic requirements of running Tempo let alone Pinpoint). This will appear to "block" the popup since you do not have enough temporary memory to spawn another Internet Explorer window.

8. How do I contact technical support for help with any MLS provided software?

Technical support is available during normal hours of operation at our main number. See our contact page for hours of operation and contact numbers. We are also available by email at techsupport@columbusrealtors.com Please note emails are responded to only during normal hours of operation.

PHOTOS WITH TEMPO

1. How do I minimize technical issues on my end when uploading photos to a listing?

Set your camera to the lowest resolution (or quality) settings before taking a photo meant for the MLS. When you upload a high quality photo to Tempo, it gets sized down to a web-friendly size. Uploading an already low resolution file will save you several seconds when uploading each photo. How you set your camera to a low resolution setting will vary from camera to camera. Please consult your camera's user guide for further assistance.

Ideally, 640x480 is the resolution to shoot for. The closer you can get to this the better.

2. I'm having trouble uploading photos to Tempo.
Photo issues or uploading issues are dependent on both your Internet connection (both speed and quality of signal), the sizes of the individual photos you are uploading, as well as the number you are uploading at once.

Try the following general solutions if you are having issues.

Dialup Users
If you are using a dialup connection, keep in mind you are attempting to upload large files over a slow connection. In this case you will want to ensure your photos are sized down before you upload. Also, it is recommended you upload them one at a time when using a dialup connection.

High Speed Users
A common scenario we see is when you attempt to upload 10 photos at once, each photo at 3 Megabytes a piece. That's 30 Megabytes you're trying to upload! Some "high speed" connections can even experience issues with this.

Potential Solutions Include:
1. Try uploading photos one at a time
2. Reduce the size of your photos using Paint (see our FAQ entry on Using Paint to reduce photo size)
3. (Best) Set your camera settings to the lowest resolution before taking a photo meant for the MLS. (see our FAQ entry on minimizing technical issues when uploading photos)

3. I've uploaded my photos, but my listing still shows "No Photo"? What happened?

After you upload your photos you must set one of those photos as your primary photo. To do so,
1. Get to the "Edit Media" screen on the listing in question. If you aren't there already, open up your listing through Add/Edit and choose the Edit Media button (as opposed to the Edit button where you change text information).
2. In the top section labeled "Edit Current Media" you should see a list of photos you've uploaded.
3. Click on your photo you'd like to be your main photo so that it highlights it.
4. Click the "Set as Primary Photo" button.
5. A confirmation screen should appear, click the "continue" button and you're finished.

4. I'm seeing an old photo on my listing even though I've replaced it.

This occurs when your Internet Explorer browser incorrectly chooses to pull information previously stored on your computer rather than accessing the server or website for the current information. You will need to purge your Temporary Internet Files to get rid of this old information on your computer. Instructions are below:

1. Open up Internet Explorer.
2. Click on the Tools menu and go to Internet Options.
3. Look for a button that says "Delete Files" or "Delete".
If it says "Delete" go to step 4, otherwise if it says "Delete Files" skip to step 5.

4. i. Click on the "Delete" button
ii. On the next screen, click the "Delete Files" button
iii. Click Yes on the popup that proceeds. This may take several
seconds, a progress indicator will tell you when it is finished.
iv. Click the "Delete Cookies" button
v. Click Yes on the popup that proceeds.
vi. Click the close button, then click Ok.

5. i. Click on the "Delete Files" button.
ii. Click on the Ok button on the popup that proceeds. This may take
several seconds, when your hourglass goes away, you will know it is finished.
iii. Click the "Delete Cookies" button
iv. Click Yes on the popup that proceeds.
v. Click Ok again on the window underneath.

6. Close ALL websites you have open, including Tempo. Restarting your computer does the same trick.
7. Reopen Internet Explorer and login to Tempo as you normally would.

Now that you've purged your Temporary Internet Files, please see "How do I minimize technical issues on my end when working with Tempo" for proactive measures to help prevent future issues.

5. I'm trying to delete my primary photo, but it doesn't let me. How do I replace it?

Tempo does not allow you to delete your primary photo. You must set a different or new photo as primary before you can delete your old one. Instructions are below:

1. Access the "Edit Media" page for your particular listing.
2. Upload your new primary photo.
3. Set your new photo as primary using the "Set As Primary Photo" button.
4. Now you can delete your old primary photo.

6. How do I use Paint to reduce the size of my listing photos?

Paint is preinstalled with any current Windows version and will allow quick resizing of photos one at a time. If you are looking to "batch" the resizing of multiple photos at once, you will need to look into a 3rd party photo editing program to do so. Instructions on resizing photos in Paint are as follows:

1. Access your programs menu from your Start button.
2. Choose Accessories, then choose "Paint".
3. Once Paint is open, choose "File" then "Open".
4. Locate a photo you need to resize, highlight it, and hit "Open".
5. You should now see the photo on your screen.
6. In the menu bar at the top, choose "Image" and then choose "Stretch/Skew" on Windows XP (look for the option "Resize/Skew" on Windows Vista).
7. As a rule of thumb, if you can see the entire image on your screen, chances are it is small enough. If you cannot see the entire image on your screen, or else need to size it down further for other reasons, continue with the instructions.
8. Try a reduction by entering 50% and 50% in the top horizontal and vertical boxes. This will reduce the size by half. You may only need to do 75% and 75%.
9. Continue using reductions of either 75% and 75% or 50% and 50% until you at least see the entire picture on your screen without scrolling.
10. Do File -> Save As and save your photo as a different filename than your original. For example "KitchenTempoVersion.jpg". If you overwrite your existing photo you will lose the large sized, original version. You may need the original large size for print advertising or other reasons.
11. Try uploading the new photo to Tempo. If Tempo rejects the photo because of size, try reducing the size just a little further and reupload.

7. What are the ideal photo sizes in Tempo to minimize pixelation and improve clarity?

TEMPO WIRELESS

1. I'm trying to access Tempo on my phone and it's not working.

The Tempo version that is available for phones is called "Tempo Wireless". Tempo is a web based product only designed to work on a computer. Visit our registration page to register for Tempo Wireless.

1. After you register, open your web browser on your phone (how to do this will vary phone to phone, refer to your phone's user manual for more information).
2. Visit "http://wireless.columbusrealtors.com". Note that you should NOT use "www".
3. Enter your license number and password. This always is the same login information that you use in Tempo. As a side note, your password is case sensitive with Tempo Wireless as opposed to Tempo.

REALIST

1. When accessing Realist, I receive a timeout error.

Timeout errors when accessing Realist are due to an installed 3rd party firewall. Common firewalls include but are not limited to: Norton Internet Security, McAfee Internet Security, EZ-Firewall, ZoneAlarm, etc. The website "realist2.firstamres.com" needs to be added as a trusted site within your particular firewall program. Please refer to your ISP, IT Department, or local computer support person for further assistance in configuring your particular installed firewall program.

2. How do I see more than 100 results at a time?

1. Open up realist. Realist is accessible from the Tax button within Tempo and then clicking the "Realist.com" link.
2. Choose the "Preferences" option in the blue bar at the top of the Realist web page.
3. The first option, which is "The maximum number of properties to view on property and neighbor list (1000 max):", change this to whichever maximum you like up to 1000.

Pinpoint and Quickpoint

1. What are some general useful tips when using Pinpoint?

Tip 1. When certain things seem to just "not work right" or else you get weird error messages, close Pinpoint and reopen.
Tip 2. Before you begin working, maximize your Internet Explorer window for maximum viewable map area.
Tip 3. Before you begin working, make sure the "Loading Form" message has both appeared and went away. Otherwise you may receive errors.
Tip 4. Turn off property points when changing criteria; Pinpoint will work more quickly for you.
Tip 5. White menu bubbles are for actions you can do, the "i" icon gives you property information. The double arrow icon hides and unhides information.
Tip 6. Pinpoint is a complex, yet powerful web application. We recommend you take any classes we offer to learn how to get the most out of Pinpoint.
Tip 7. Self help materials for Pinpoint are available by choosing "Member Info" then "Columbus Info" on the main Tempo page. Help guides from our vendor are located within Pinpoint on the help tab.

2. When I click on Smartmaps from the Search menu, the Pinpoint popup doesn't come up.

Pinpoint can often be blocked by pop-up blockers and security programs. Try holding down your control key while clicking "SmartMaps" and continue to hold for several seconds. If Pinpoint shows up, then you know it's just a popup blocker issue. You'll want to allow "cbrmls.columbusrealtors.com" to your popup blocker.

Please refer to your ISP, IT Department, or local computer support person for further assistance in configuring your particular installed security or firewall program to allow popups from Tempo & Pinpoint.

In rare instances, the Pinpoint popup doesn't appear due to lack of RAM memory (e.g. not meeting the basic requirements of running Tempo let alone Pinpoint). This will appear to "block" the popup since you do not have enough temporary memory to spawn another Internet Explorer window.

3. When I click the Pinpoint tab when I'm in Quickpoint, I get a strange error message and Pinpoint doesn't show.

This is due to a popup blocker being installed. Try holding down your control key while clicking "SmartMaps" and continue to hold for several seconds. The holding control key is one solution. Another automatic solution is to allow "cbrmls.columbusrealtors.com" to your popup blocker. How to do this will vary based on the particular popup blocker you have.

4. How do I access the Rand McNally Map information for my listing within Pinpoint?

1. Log into Tempo and open up Pinpoint. Currently, you can get to Pinpoint by choosing "Search" then choose "Smartmaps" on the pull down menu.
2. Once Pinpoint is fully loaded, maximize the Pinpoint window.
3. Locate the menu bubble next to where it says "Listings View" in the upper left corner of the screen. Once you've located this, click on it.
4. Choose "Map Layer Management".
5. Put a checkmark in the option called "RMC Page & Grid"
6. Click ok on this window.
7. You should now have the Rand McNally grid overlay. If you are looking for the map page information on a particular property, proceed with the next steps.
8. Click the "Go To" tab at the top.
9. Make sure you are on the address option and then type in your subject address. Make sure to follow the example given below the box.
10. Once the map locates and zooms to the property, click the "Go To" tab again to make it disappear.
11. If you do not see all map information for the property, you may need to zoom out a little bit to see it all. The red number is your map page. The blue letter is your map top, the blue number is your map side.

5. How do I use Pinpoint just for driving directions?

The following is the quickest way to use Pinpoint just for driving directions only on properties you already have addresses for.
1. Log into Tempo and open up Pinpoint. Currently, you can get to Pinpoint by choosing "Search" then choose "Smartmaps" on the pull down menu.
2. Once Pinpoint is fully loaded, maximize the Pinpoint window.
3. Click the "Go To" tab at the top of you screen.
4. Make sure you are on the address option and then type in your first address. Make sure to follow the example given below the box.
5. Click the "Property Points" check box to turn on property points. This is located in the upper left portion of the screen and to the right of where it says "Listings View".
6. Hover or click on the green house icon for your first address and select "Add to List".
7. Locate the "My List" area in the lower left portion of the screen. If your window is not maximized at this point, go ahead and maximize it.
8. Underneath "My List" locate the menu bubble in between the two orange house icons. Click on it.
9. Choose "Driving Directions" from the list of options.
10. Highlight the address on the left box. Click the right pointing arrow button to move it to the box on the right.
11. Move the address back to the left, then move it again to the right again. This step is necessary to activate the "Generate Route" button.
12. Use the "Add a Location" box at the top to add the rest of your properties in your route. You can also add addresses that are not for showing, for example, a coffee shop for a break, or your office as a starting point.
13. Use the "Up" and "Down" buttons to adjust or give an order to your route.
14. Choose between the options of "Shortest Route" or "Quickest Route" and then click "Generate Route".
15. To print your route, click the "Print Route" button located underneath the map graphic. To adjust your route settings, choose the "Change Route" button located underneath the map graphic.

6. How do I print from Pinpoint?

4. Choose the "Print" option.
5. Click the "Print" button in the upper right portion of the screen. Using other print methods may cause the page not to print correctly.

7. When I print from Quickpoint, the Quickpoint logo prints, but I only see parcel lines printed and no street photo.

This occurs when using Internet Explorer 6.0. Upgrading your browser to Internet Explorer 7.0 will resolve the issue. You can upgrade using the standard Windows Updates option within Internet Explorer.

8. When I print from Quickpoint, I only get about 1/4 of the picture and no Quickpoint logo is printed.

This occurs on the printer friendly page. When you right click and choose "Print Picture" from the QuickPoint it will only print 1/4 of the image and not print the property information. Instead, scroll to the right until you see a button inside of the page that says "Print" and has a picture of a printer next to it. Use this button to then print this page. Alternative methods of printing include: right click outside of the picture and choose "Print..." or use the keyboard shortcut of ctrl+p to print this page. These correct methods will print the full picture along with the quickpoint logo and the property information as a 2nd page.

9. Where can I get general help with Pinpoint?

MLS provided help guides for Pinpoint are available within Tempo by choosing "Member Info" then "Columbus Info" on the main Tempo page. Help guides from our vendor is available within Pinpoint by choosing the "Help" tab. Given that Pinpoint is a complex, yet powerful web application we highly recommend you take our Pinpoint classes. Outside of class instruction you may call our technical support help desk for individual questions or technical issues.
