“Quiet Passion” is how Larry Hoyt our 2002 Erica Blumenstein Memorial Award winner has been described by friend and former business partner Buck Byrne.

Larry, a commercial REALTOR® with Ohio Equities for the past 12 years was selected in October 2002 to received this award for his outstanding commitment to the commercial real estate industry.

 

Sadly, on Friday, January 10, 2003 and before he could be honored publicly by his peers, Larry lost his 16-month courageous battle with leukemia at the James Cancer Hospital.

 

Real estate for Larry was a profession he enjoyed for more than 30 years. In his involvement with CBR, Larry served 5 years on the Board of Trustees, was a member of numerous board committees and taught ethics courses. He also was a member of CBR’s Five and Ten Million Dollar Sales Award Clubs.

 

At the time of his passing, he was  currently serving as president of the Columbus chapter of the Society of Industrial and Officer REALTORS® (SIOR). In the past, he served as a Trustee of SIOR National, chaired SIOR’s National Arbitration Panel, where he helped recently to rewrite its Code of Ethics. Larry was also very active Commercial, Industrial Investment, REALTORS® (CCIIR), where in 1985 he served as its president.

 

For the community, he served as a Junior Achievement instructor at Dublin Coffman High School and was a member of the First Community Church, York Country Club, Sawmill Athletic Club and Leatherlips Yacht Club.

 

Larry was a graduate of the University of Toledo and a member of the Marine Corp Reserves. He enjoyed bicycling, roller blading and sailing, where he sailed Interlachen to win regional championships.

 

Larry will be missed by his real estate family.
