Shawn Hageman, Chair
Residential Standard Forms Committee

Improving the forms you use

The Residential Standard Forms Committee is composed of member volunteers and a Chairperson appointed by the Directors of the Columbus Board of Realtors®. Monthly meetings are held the third Thursday of each month at the CBR office from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Meetings begin and end promptly.

The Committee's purpose is to review and make recommendations regarding the standardized forms currently supported, and in the future adopted by, the Columbus Board of Realtors®. This committee does not review forms required by state or federal mandate such as the lead based paint and residential property disclosure forms.

Upon consideration by our committee, recommendations regarding any standard residential form are forwarded to the Liaison for the Columbus Bar Association for legal review and then to the CBR Board of Directors for final review and adoption.

The Committee has carried on an active and varied agenda to date in 2002. After much input and consideration by both committee members and CBR members, two significant objectives have been met.

First, the Committee has reviewed and recommended a revised Standard Buyer Representation Agreement. This has been forwarded to CBR legal counsel and will then go to the CBR Directors for possible final adoption.

Second, the Committee has also completed review and revision work on proposed changes to the Standard Request To Remedy Unsatisfactory Conditions form. This too, is now in the hands of CBR legal counsel and then the CBR Directors for final approval.

Currently the Committee is reviewing the standard clauses for the Standard Purchase Contract. CBR member input is not only welcome but is strongly encouraged.

In closing, I personally would like to thank all members of the Committee, the Columbus Bar Association, and the Directors of the Columbus Board of Realtors® for making this committee's 2002 efforts so productive. I would also like to commend the many other committees of the CBR for their fine work, which serves to enhance the professionalism and success of all Columbus Board of Realtors® members.
