Residential Education Committee Mission
To develop, organize and present educational opportunities; and to enhance our members' professionalism and profitability.

One of the most important and beneficial committees to the CBR membership is the Residential Education Committee. The mission statement of the committee is to develop, organize and present educational opportunities; and to enhance our members' professionalism and profitability.

The Education Committee includes four subcommittees: Library, Marketing, Development and Review.

The Library Subcommittee's mission is to stimulate an interest in and promote the opportunity for life-long learning in real estate by offering a balanced, broad collection of the printed and spoken word, visual images and exhibits designed to reflect the needs and interest of board members.

The Marketing Subcommittee, just like its name implies, to market and advertise the classes sponsored by the CBR.

The Development Subcommittee is charged with developing classes that would benefit our board members.

The Review Subcommittee reviews and presents to the full committee course proposals that come to the committee from outside sources for upcoming classes.

Recently, a task force was formed to compile the results from the “member response” card survey that is handed in at the end of each class. The survey is on the bottom of the course evaluation sheet. Judy Hunter, Kay Neffenger, Carol Ross and Mary Troxel served on the task force, as part of the Development Subcommittee. The results from the survey give the committee a good idea of what classes the membership would like to see offered by CBR and the requests are as follows: Contracts (504), Computer (500), Financing (412), Agency (251) and Lead Paint (106). From the survey, there a number of more specific course topic ideas that the committee is looking at, too.
The committee is working to obtain the following objectives:
   • Create awareness of resources that may be downloaded from MLS/Internet for problem solving
      for the new MLS.
   • Promote CBR Tempo classes for the MLS System.
   • Continue to offer technology training.
   • Address distance education that will occur the second half of 2002.
   • Finalize a brochure of a transaction from A to Z (listing to closing) and develop a CE course to go      along with brochure.
   • Continue to offer CE classes as well as required CE classes.

We are here to serve the membership and we strongly encourage the members to tell us what they think. If you have an idea for a course offering, contact any of the following committee members: Jeff Murray, Gary Parsons, Tom Goetz, Susan Brehm, Victoria Brenes, Cynthia Calendar, Victor Casasanta, Jane Coughlin, Carolyn Davidson, Charles Dozer, Sarah Eagleson, Harry Erb, Kathleen Faust, Laural Flanagan, Marie Foeller, Carl Hemmeler, Patricia Himes, Judith Hunter, Sue Ellen King, Lou Lenz, Kay Neffenger, Carol Prigan, Carol Ross, Mary Troxel, and Jim Vowell .

This world is changing rapidly and the people who are educated and prepared will reap the benefits of the opportunities that present themselves. The Residential Education Committee would like to help you be educated and prepared!

Be sure to look each month in your In Contract magazine for the yellow pullout section that lists upcoming classes, schedule and descriptions. The same information is available on the website. Click here to see a list of classes and/or register online.
