![]() Bruce Massa Massa Realty & Development Corp. Bruce Massa was named 2002 Broker of the Year to honor his years of commitment to the Columbus Board of Realtors® and to the real estate profession. He is founder and owner of Massa Realty & Development Corporation and has been a member of CBR since 1974. His involvement with CBR includes serving as President, Trustee and as chair and member of numerous other CBR committees. He is a charter member of CBR's Foundation Fund and a Life Member of both RPAC and CORPAC. His civic activities include participation on the Chamber of Commerce Retention and Expansion committee and a two-year term on the Board of Trustees of Columbus Day/USA. He also has served as a member of the Athletic Club of Columbus Housing and Construction committees, is a past president of the Columbus Italian Club and member of the Parkland Dedication Committee. Bruce is married to Terrie Elaine, has one son, Nicolas Anthony, and enjoys golf, boating, fishing and travel. On receiving the award, Bruce said, “I am truly honored that my peers have thought enough of me to have this honor bestowed upon me. It is both gratifying as well as humbling to be the Broker of the year!” Salesperson of the Year Robert “Captain Bob” Kidwell was named 2002 Salesperson of the Year for his outstanding commitment to participating and promoting industry activities. “I believe in teamwork,” said Bob. “And as Woody Hayes said ‘You win with people.' I've tried to live by that by staying involved and getting others involved.” An associate with Coldwell Banker King Thompson, Bob currently serves as chair of CBR's Real Estate Weekly Publishing Board, and is a past co-chair of CORPAC, chair of the CORPAC Governing Board, Communications and the “Through the Years” committees, and has served as a member of numerous other CBR committees. He is currently an OAR Trustee and a member of the NAR Board of Directors. His civic commitment has included serving on the Board of Directors of the Columbus Jaycees and as a United Way volunteer. He also has served on the VIP panels of the Easter Seals and the Miracle Network Telethon, and has been active with the Young Business Men's Club, I Know I Can, Food Bank, and the Hilliard Chamber of Commerce. He is a Life Member of the Upper Arlington Civic Association and has served on its Board of Directors. He also is a past Upper Arlington High School PTO president, and member of the BoosterClub Board of Directors. The Capt. holds a Broker's license, is an Accredited Buyers Representative (ABR) and a Graduate, Realtors® Institute (GRI) designee, a CBR Million Dollar Club Member and a Life Member of the OAR Million Dollar Club.Bob attended The Ohio State University, where he majored in radio and television. He also attended Franklin University, and from 1956 to 1964, served in the United States Naval Air Reserve. He is married to Barbara and has 5 children and 6 grandchildren. Affiliate® of the Year Steve Wagner was chosen as CBR's 2002 Affiliate of the Year for his outstanding business experience and his willingness to share his expertise with his industry colleagues. Wagner is Vice President of Knight Wagner Mortgage Company. He currently serves as Treasurer of the Bexley-Eastmoor-Berwick Real Estate Association (BEB) and its Homeless Families Foundation Fundraiser and as Treasurer and Transportation Chair of the Clintonville/Beechwold Homes tour. In the past, he has served as Vice President of the Midtown Area Real Estate Association and as Treasurer of the Greater Worthington and North Area Real Estate Associations. In the community, Steve has participated in the American Cancer Society Realtors' Daffodil sales and has coached both the Immaculate Conception Junior High Boys Volleyball and the Franklin County Special Olympics Volleyball teams. Upon accepting this award, Steve said “I feel a great sense of obligation to pay back the local real estate community for contributing to our success. I hope that being enthusiastically active in supporting our Realtors®â helps to say ‘Thank You.' It's all about giving back.” Citizen of the Year Jo Ann Davidson was selected as CBR's 2002 Citizen of the Year. This prestigious award is in recognition of her long-time commitment of service to the Central Ohio Community through her professional and community involvement. Upon accepting this award, Jo Ann Davidson said, “In my public service as well as my work with chambers of commerce, I have always placed a high priority on being actively involved in our system of government – either as an informed voter, a candidate or in supporting those who are in position to make good public policy. The one group that has consistently dedicated themselves to this type of involvement has been Realtors®.” I greatly respect Realtors® for placing this involvement as a high priority in their personal careers and as a part of their organizational activities. This respect makes it a special honor for me to be recognized as the 2002 Citizen of the Year by the Columbus Board of Realtors®.” In her public service career, Jo Ann has served ten terms as a member of the Ohio House of Representatives where, for five years, she served as Speaker of the House. She also served as Vice Chair of the Ohio Turnpike Commission, Member at Large of the Reynoldsburg City Council, Clerk of Truro Township and as a member of the Franklin County Mental Health Board. Jo Ann is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Ohio Legislator Award and the Watchdog of the Treasury Award from the United Conservatives of Ohio. In 1991, the National Republican Legislators named her Legislator of the Year and, that same year, she was inducted into the Ohio Women's Hall of Fame. She is a recipient of YWCA's Women of Achievement Award and of the Good Housekeeping Award for Women in Government. Jo Ann holds an Honorary Doctor of Law Degree from Ohio University and from Capital University, an Honorary Degree in Government Leadership from the University of Findlay and an Honorary Doctor of Public Administration from The Ohio State University. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the University of Findlay, Franklin University, the John Glenn Institute of The Ohio State University and is an Honorary Board Member of the Jo Ann Davidson Ohio Leadership Institute. In the past, she has chaired the Franklin County Republican Central Committee and has been active with the Reynoldsburg-Pickerington Rotary Club. Instructor of the Year Chris Davis was chosen to receive CBR's 2002 Joseph L. MacKinnon Chris has been a licensed real estate salesperson and auctioneer since 1985. Since childhood, he has worked in the family auction business. His 78-year old grandfather is still active in the business. Chris currently serves as Auctioneer/Realtor® with Coldwell Banker King Thompson Auction Division. He has been teaching auction classes for 10 years, and has been an instructor with CBR for five years. In his career, he has conducted real estate, antiques, collectibles, farm equipment and industrial equipment auctions throughout Ohio. He also conducts quite a lot of benefit auctions, including auctions for Children's Hospital. Chris is active in the Ohio Auctioneers Association, where he is currently serving as director of the Southeast District and is a member of the National Auctioneers Association, where he placed in the top 10 bid callers in 1999. In 1993, he won State Champion Bid Caller. Chris holds the following industry designations: Certified Auctioneers Institute (CAI) and Accredited Auctioneers of Real Estate (AARE). In receiving the instruction award, Davis said, “I love what I do and, if you enjoy what you do, then it's natural. It's easy to tell people about it. I am blessed to be able to do what I do and have the ability to share it with other people.”50-year Members 25-year Members |
