February 2001 - Commercial Awards

Top Producer
Wayne B. Harer
Continental Real Estate Companies
Harer is executive vice-president of Continental Real Estate Companies and has spent 17 years bringing clients together for sales and lease transactions.
In 2000, Harer completed 28 lease and sales transactions during the year, for a total of $43,397,280 in lease and sales volume and $22,783,768 in net sales volume credit.
Harer also won the Top Producer award in 1998. He seems modest when discussing his accomplishments. “Columbus has been a great market in the last decade. I've been very fortunate to work on some great projects,” he said.
Some of the biggest projects he has handled include the $10 million sale of the former Check Free building in Worthington to Worthington Industries and leasing 60,000 square feet of space in the URS Building in the Downtown Arena District for 10 years, for a total lease package of $10 million.

Largest C/I Transaction
Wayne F. Asmus and Richard J. Elosh
National Realty Services Inc.
Asmus and Elosh spent 2 1/2 years bringing together a sublease deal between Whirlpool Corporation, landlord, and the tenant, EGL Eagle Global Logistics LP. Their tenacity paid off when the parties signed a seven-year lease in August agreeing to Eagle's rental of 509,190 square feet of warehouse space on 36.6 acres at 2727 London-Groveport Road for a total lease of $11,372,758.
Asmus has been in the real estate business since 1974. Elosh has worked in real estate since 1978, and won CCIIR's Largest Transaction Award in 1991 and 1993.

Most Unique C/I Transaction
1031 Exchange Transaction
Greg Hrabcak
Group One Realty, Inc.
Hrabcak has 17 years in real estate and is vice-president of
Group One Realty, Inc.

Most Unique C/I Transaction
This transaction was unique due to its “difficulty and complexity” Hrabcak said. The 27-acre property, located at 2708 Morse Road and owned by the Central Ohio District Church of the Nazarene, had been used by the group as its district headquarters and also as their summer campground. The property was on the market for five years before the Columbus Urban Growth Corporation purchased it for $2.3 million. Hrabcak said the buyer's creativity will “provide a re-use of the property, which will benefit both the public and private sectors of the City of Columbus,” adding another unique element to this transaction.

1031 Exchange Transaction
Hrabcak won this award for completing a transaction involving three properties: The $2.2 million property at 560 Charring Cross in Westerville, the $1.05 million property at 5060 Park Center Drive in Dublin and the $1.6 million property at 5940 Clydemore Drive in Groveport. The total value for these properties was $4.8 million, and all were set up and completed as 1031 Like Kind Exchanges.

Rookie of the Year
Christina C. Bell
RJ Boll Realty, Ltd.
Bell specializes in commercial real estate brokerage and tenant/buyer and landlord/owner representation services, with her primary focus being on Central Ohio locations.
After a 10-year stint in the United States Air Force, she started with RJ Boll Realty in 1998 as an executive assistant, but wanted to do more than sit behind a desk. Since receiving her real estate license, she has received the Columbus Board of Realtors® One Million Dollar Sales Award and the Ohio Association of Realtors® Award of Achievement. She completed $3,257,711 worth of sales and leasing transactions in 2000.

Erika Blumenstein Memorial Award
Thomas P. Kohr
Kohr Royer Griffith Inc.
Thomas P. Kohr, Chairman of Kohr Royer Griffith Inc., has worked in real estate since 1946 and now heads up the firm his father founded in 1914. He has received the Lifetime Achievement Award in Real Estate from Columbus State Community College at their 1998 Real Estate Hall of Fame Banquet. In the past, colleagues have honored him by electing him to serve as President of the Columbus Society of Real Estate Appraisers, Director of the National Association of Realtors®, President of the Building Owners and Managers Association, and President of the Columbus Board of Realtors®. Both the Columbus Board of Realtors® and the Ohio Association of Realtors® voted him Realtor® of the Year in 1969.
His commitment to quality goes beyond the workplace, and his civic involvement includes holding volunteer leadership positions with the Salvation Army, the Greater Columbus Chamber of Commerce, the Columbus Urban League, the Open Shelter, YMCA, Downtown Columbus Rotary, Fraternity Managers Association at Ohio State University and the Urban Renewal Commission.
He and his wife, Alice, have also opened their home and acted as a host family to numerous international students through the American Field Service.
