2008 Foundation Fund Raising Committee Report

Putting the fun in fund raising

This year the Columbus Board of REALTORS® Charitable Foundation Fund's Fundraising Committee has had a very busy agenda. The charitable arm of CBR has, in the past four years given out over $200,000 in charitable grants and scholarships in the community.

Our mission as the Fundraising Committee is to go farther, do better and to raise the awareness of the Foundation Fund and the important work it does, such as, REALTOR® Care Day activities, the educational scholarships that are given out each spring, and grants that have helped improve our community.

The dedicated group of committee members we have this year do not believe in relying on the "same old same old" to get the job done. We have created some great new activities to add to what we already had in place.

So far we have created new marketing materials to showcase our improved mission statement -- "building community", rededicated the REALTOR® brick walk with our first annual and very popular "Bricks Brats and Beer Festival", and we have held our first of a series of "CBR Night at the Movies" at the Arena Grand Theater.

Historically, the Celebrity Waiters Luncheon has been our main fundraising activity. This year we have a new look, venue and new opportunity to help "Build Community" in central Ohio! Our new and improved event, Celebrities at Creekside, is being held October 29 at the newly built Creekside Event Center in Gahanna.

This new venue offers a large party facility on the third floor of the main building which overlooks the creek and gorgeous fountain. Plus there is an underground garage with plenty of parking.

This is our first evening event and we'll be bringing in celebrities from the Shadowbox Cabaret, Ohio State, NBC 4, WBNS 10 and more!

In addition, you may see other celebrities you would never anticipate with our (voluntary!) costume contest. Come for our silent and live auction, delicious catering from Cameron Mitchell's, live music for dancing and more!

There will also be a 50/50 drawing for your chance to win $5000! There will only be 100 tickets sold (at $100 each), so get your friends together and find a committee person for your chance to win!
