Joseph Hart, Coldwell Banker King Thompson

Joseph Hart currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Franklin County Branch of the American Cancer Society, where he helps to develop policy and programming. He's also a committed and prolific fundraiser and, since his involvement in 1979, has helped to raise more than $750,000. He's also involved in advocacy efforts and never hesitates to let our legislators know the importance of the issues surrounding cancer and other healthcare matters.

As a volunteer, Joe has sold holiday products, chaired Daffodil Day, dressed as a full sized `Duck" for the Duck Derbies, started a successful Relay For Life event in Worthington, and participated in the Circle the Wagons fundraiser, now the Cattle Baron's Ball. He also has participated in the Lee Slater Holiday Program, the Great American Smoke out, corporate wellness programs and serves on the ACS Cancer Survivors Committee.

In 1988 Joe was named the Franklin County Volunteer of the Year and, in 2006, received the Robert E. Matthews Award for distinguished service to the American Cancer Society.

Joe says, "My first witness to the ravages of cancer, as an adult, was when one of my best friends. Jimmie, a brother Marine died of testicular cancer in 1963. More recently both my wife Judy and myself have become cancer victims. Through God's Grace and great care we are lucky we are winning the fight.We must find a cure from this disease. It will take lots of money raised by people like you and me to fund research, advocacy, education and patient services. Look around you, how many family members, friends or co-workers have you lost to cancer.
