CBR News : REALTOR® Care Day 2008 : Greater Dublin Realty Association Project

Greater Dublin Realty Association Project

Project: The Greater Dublin Realty Association spent the day working on a large patio area and landscaping for longtime Dublin Resident Mr. and Mrs. Rapp.

Due to some debilitating health issues, the Rapps have not been able to maintain and enjoy their large yard and patio area in the past year. With the help of our many volunteers and sponsors, we were able to complete the following list of projects to help restore and freshen their outdoor living area.

The Columbus Board of REALTORS® Foundation Fund matched Dublin's investment for a total of $1,000. In addition, in-kind donations were estimated at $600.

Projects for the day included:

  1. Restored the backyard pond
  2. Replaced a 10' long foot bridge over the pond
  3. Power washed patio furniture, patio and stone seat walls
  4. Raked leaves, weeded and mulched, which was a large undertaking, filling 50 yard bags and using 48 bags of mulch
  5. Put down Azelea food and mulched around the bushes
  6. Replaced eight artificial Geranium plants in 12" round pots around the patio area
  7. Trimmed overgrown bushes and removed dead tree limbs
  8. Removed two truck loads of old patio, furniture, fountains, swings, etc.
  9. Restored several pieces of patio furniture and stained with a Cedartone
  10. Repaired four Redwood patio benches and painted the benches and patio table
  11. Installed two new patio umbrellas and outdoor pillows
  12. Scraped and painted the window and eaves of the home
  13. Straightened and secured the existing basketball pole using additional gravel and cement
  14. Repaired and re-installed the bird feeder
