Member Services : Awards Programs : Spotlight on Community Service : Michelle Helms, Real Living HER Michelle Helms, Real Living HERMichelle has been actively involved with the Mid-Ohio Amber Alert Board practically since its inception. Through the Department of Public Safety, Amber Alert provides a complete description of abducted children, 18 years and young, and a description of the abductor on highway message boards. Michelle participates in at least five "Safety Days" or "Cops and Kids Days" each year in Central Ohio. She hands out child identification kits and program information for the police agencies. In addition to working with these groups, Michelle has been collecting signatures on a petition to be given to the House of Representatives, requesting an "Amber Alert" license plate be produced to make communities more aware of this program. Michelle says, "I got involved with Mid-Ohio Amber Alert for the opportunity to educate the public and let people know exactly what is an Amber alert and what to do if your child is abducted. I love having this opportunity to help Children and there parents." |
