Barbara (Coleman) Hathaway passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was a REALTOR® with Real Living HER for over 30 years; a graduate of South High School, class of 1964, and she attended The Ohio State University. She is survived by her granddaughter, Brooke Lipshaw; daughter, Christina (Charles) Walters; son, Charles L. Hathaway; mother, LaVern Coleman; beloved grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends. Donations may be made in Barbara's memory to the Brooke Lipshaw Fund, c/o Park National Bank, Johnstown, Ohio.

Sammie Carter passed away peacefully on Friday May 29, 2009, surrounded by her daughers. She was an associate with Murray Realty, and as a REALTOR® for over 30 years, she enjoyed working with first time homebuyers and touched many lives. She co-owned Properties Unlimited, REALTORS® and served on and chaired many committees for the Columbus Board of REALTORS®. Sammie is survived by her daughters Carolyn Carter of O'Fallon, Mo. and Ann (Jeff) Brennan of St. Joseph, Mich.; grandchildren David and Stephen Brennan; brothers, James T. Bradley (Betty) of Dallas, Tex. and Dennis H. Bradley (Mary) of Arlington, Tex.; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mount Carmel Hospice or the American Cancer Society.

Thomas F. Ketterer passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2009 at Mt. Carmel East, surrounded by his loving family after a valiant battle with cancer. He was a sales associates with HER Real Living, a U.S. Marine Corp Veteran and, after 33 years of service, was a retiree of Sears Roebuck Company. He was also a long time starter at Airport Golf Course and an avid golfer. Tom is survived by his wife, Judy; children, Kevin and Jennifer, Amy and Bob Glanzman, Denise and Matt Carlisle; grandchildren, Jessica, Kailey, Nick, Kameron, Jacob, Kyndall, Matthew and Gabe; brothers, Dick (Kathy) and Steve (Jan); nieces and nephews and many dear relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mt. Carmel Hospice.

Lloyd F. "Pops" Simmons passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2009. Lloyd was a retired real estate agent with HER, REALTORS® and, in 1981, was named CBR's REALTOR® of the Year.He was a Navy veteran of WWII; a 60-year member of the Westgate Masonic Lodge #623 F&AM; a Charter member of the Hickory Hills Golf Club; and a member of Cypress Wesleyan Church. His greatest treasure was his fishing house at Wills Creek. Lloyd is survived by daughters, Marty (Nelson) Wooldridge and Susie Simmons; grandchildren, Chip and Ryan Geiss, Sheri (Doug) West, Shanny Wooldridge (Scott), granddaughter-in-law, Sara Wooldridge; eight great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; nephew who was like a son, Kenny (Margaret) Heil; longtime friend, Virginia Allen; many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Richard E. Donley passed away on Friday, April 17, 2009 at his home surrounded by his immediate family. Raised in Columbus, Dick graduated from Bishop Watterson High School and attended Ohio State University. He and his brothers, John, Tom and Mike, started Donley Homes Inc. in 1971. They built a successful real estate company developing homes, apartments, condos and office buildings in the greater Columbus area. Dick is survived by his children, Craig (Dana), Stacie, Scott, and their mother, Marilyn; grandchildren, Sydney and Jake; brothers, John (Barbara), Tom (Patricia), Mike (Debbie); sisters, Joan (Rolly) Quillen, Dorothy Leonard, Kathy Squires and her partner, Laurie. John P. Kurgis passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, January 22, 2009. He was a former Professional Wrestler and a retired REALTOR® with Coldwell-Banker/King Thompson (Larry Wade Realtors). John attended St. Mary's High School, graduated from The Ohio State University and was a longtime member of The Athletic Club of Columbus. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Dorothy Ferguson Kurgis; children, Kevin and Gin Kurgis, Sharon Kurgis, Dr. Bradley Kurgis, Karen and Jim Laws; grandchildren, Sally, John, Katherine, and Kevin; sister, Katherine Badurina; nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends. Robert E. Moyer
passed award on Saturday, January 3, 2009 at his residence. He was a sales associate with Brokers and Associates, a member of the Whitehall/Bexley Rotary Club, and the Ohio High School Athletic Association. He enjoyed being a high school football referee for many years and had been a Red Coat at The Ohio State University. Bob also had an interest in aviation and was a licensed pilot. He is survived by his wife, Carol Moyer of Columbus, OH, sons, Stephen Moyer of NY, Chad (Nancy) Moyer, Powell, OH; daughters, Alison (Casey) Redmond, Logan, OH, Melissa (Jeff) Donato, Lewis Center, OH; brother, Howard (Juanita) Moyer, Findlay, OH; and 10 grandchildren. Major (Ret.) Robert "Bob" Wrentz White, Sr.,
passed away on Sunday, December 28, 2008, after a short and courageous battle with cancer. Bob retired a Major from the Army in 1974, with his last duty station being Army advisor to the Ohio Guard. After retiring from the Army, Bob began his second career in real estate. From the opening of his first brokerage, Bob White Realty, to his last as Managing Broker for Prudential CRES Commercial Real Estate, he enjoyed the challenges found in the representation of clients and the development of his agents to meet the market demands.Bob was the first REALTOR® in the Columbus market place to obtain the CIPS designation and enjoyed many years working with a culturally diverse clientele. Bob was also a specialist in 1031 Exchanges and served as Chairman of The Property Management Appeals Board for Code Enforcement for the City of Columbus. He continued to be an inspiration to those he worked with throughout his personal struggles and refused to allow his health to overshadow the development of the team he had worked so hard to put into place. Bob was a member of the Aladdin Shrine and past member of the Legion of Honor. He continued his commitment to honor those for past military service and was among the founders of the Ohio Military Hall of Fame for Valor. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Mary Jo, also a REALTOR®, with Coldwell Banker King Thompson; children, Robert W (Melody) Jr., Rebecca (Gary) Chambers, Daniel (Carol) White, Jeffrey (Deana); step-daughter, Michelle (John) Weber; mother, Jane (Harold) Pyle; brother, Wilbert Joseph (Sandy) White; mother-in-law, Emma Jo Dolan; 11 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Robert Stewart,
ABR AHWD CIPS, broker/owner of Ohio Real Estate Brokers, passed away on Monday, December 22. He had been a very active member of CBR for several years, serving on many of the Board's committees. You always knew when Robert was in the building, because he made a point of greeting everyone. He will be sadly missed by all who have known him.


Larry G. Frazier
, of Columbus, devoted father and grandfather, died Wednesday November 26, 2008 playing the game he loved most, tennis. Larry was an associate with Thomas Millican & Associates and a master senior appraiser. He was a graduate of The Ohio State University and a Captain in the US Air Force. He enjoyed watching OSU basketball and football. He also loved dancing, and listening to jazz, and Frank Sinatra. He is survived by children, Cheryl, Jay, Larry (Tamara) Frazier; grandchildren, Shane and Connor; and devoted companion Barbara Matrka. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.


Jeffrey Paul Koontz
, of Upper Arlington, died unexpectedly Wednesday, October 8, 2008. Jeffrey was a REALTOR® with Coldwell Banker King Thompson and a member of the Columbus Board of REALTORS® $25 Million Sales Award Club. He served as a past President of the Northwest Area Real Estate Association, former Director of the Upper Arlington Civic Association; member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Scioto Country Club, Brookside Country Club, Upper Arlington Chamber of Commerce, and the OSU President's Club. He was also a graduate of Whetstone High School, attended Miami University and graduated from The Ohio State University. He is survived by his wife, Diane; children, Paula (Brian) Gilmour, of Upper Arlington, Gregory Koontz, of Upper Arlington and his girlfriend Lindsay Thomas; and Mark (Pender) Koontz, of New York City; grandchildren, Ashley Elizabeth and Jack Christopher Gilmour; mother and father-in-law, Joanne and Harry Edgington of Dublin; sister-in-law, Judy and Dennis Richardson of Dublin and a host of other family and friends. Jeff was the best and most loving husband, father, "papa," son and son-in-law who loved spending time with his family. He loved Upper Arlington sports, University of Virginia lacrosse, and OSU sports. James E. Scanlon
, retired sales associate with RE/MAX Affiliates, passed away September 14, 2008. Prior to his real estate career, James owned Scanlon Tire Company for 25 years. He was also involved with The Knights of Columbus, Serra Club of North Columbus, St. Vincent DePaul Society, and Ancient Order of Hibernians. He had a love for swimming in the gulf and taking long walks along Vanderbilt Beach. He also enjoyed gardening, bird watching and reading. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Jeanne Kane Scanlon; children, Mary Jeanne and Mark Evans, James and Vicky Scanlon, Garrett and Sherri Scanlon, Daniel and Kathy Scanlon, Kelley and David Martin; 10 grandchildren, a great-granddaughter; brother, Michael C. (JoAnn) Scanlon; and a host of other family and friends.

Marvin D. Metersky
, retired REALTOR® with Tracey Freshwater, passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 2008, at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Marvin served in the National Guard in New York and Ohio from 1951 to 1970. He was an Industrial Arts Educator until he began a second career in Real Estate in 1976. He was an active participant in North Area Real Estate Association and was recognized for his volunteer work with Habitat for Humanity of Central Ohio. Marvin was also an avid tennis player and a volunteer coach for St. Charles Tennis Team. Marvin is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary Ann; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Shirlien of Worthington, OH; daughter, Karen of Toledo, OH; 2 grandsons, Jacob and Ben; sister, Ann Maire of Spartansburg, SC; as well as several nieces and nephews. Linda S. McKnight, a sales associate with RE/MAX Town Center, passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2008, at Grant Medical Center. Linda was a graduate of Otterbein College, earning her BA in Education followed by a Masters in Education from Ashland University. She was a former teacher for Columbus Public Schools, teaching  at Northland High School and Marion-Franklin High School. She was a friend to all, her zest for life was never-ending. Some would say she lived life out loud, enjoying every minute of every day. She will be greatly missed by all who were honored to know her. Lawrence "Larry" F. Hunt "PopPop", of Lewis Center and a sales agent with Coldwell Banker King Thompson passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2008, after a year-long battle with cancer.  Larry was a retired Columbus Public Schools teacher and a former long-time resident of Colonial Hills in Worthington, where he was very active in their Civic Association and a member of St. Michael Church in Worthington, where he was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus. He loved gardening, travel, photography, dancing, music and reading and in later years created many wonderful water color works of art. Larry is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Pat Ryan Hunt; and daughters, Erin (Brian) Glowacki, New Albany, OH and Kelly (Tom) Osip, Evansville, IN.; brothers, Donald Hunt, Jerry(Phyllis) Hunt and Bob Hunt, 7 grandchildren and a hosts of other relatives and friends. Judy S. Butler, a retired REALTOR® with Coldwell Banker King Thompson and a long-time resident of Upper Arlington, died Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at her home with her family by her side. Judy attended Ohio University, had over 40 years of service in real estate and, throughout the years, was involved in many organizations including the Columbus Museum of Art and Vaud-Villities. Judy's true passion, however, was her love and devotion to her children, her grandchildren and her many dear friends. Her surviving children include, Deborah E. Casto of Columbus, OH, Darcy Casto Weber and husband Glenn Weber of Upper Arlington, OH and James D. Casto Jr. and wife Elizabeth Casto of Dublin, OH; grandchildren, James Weber and Lauren Weber, J.D. Casto III, Jenny Casto and Tyler Casto; sister, Martha Rech of FL; nieces, nephews; other relatives and many friends. James M. Cockerell, affectionately known as "Buzz" passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family and friends on Friday, March 24, 2008. He was a REALTOR® with Jim Tharp Realty, owned and operated Jimchucks Restaurant and Buzz Cockerell's Westerville Restaurant. A restaurateur for almost thirty years, Buzz was heavily involved in the Central Ohio Restaurant Association as a Board member and served two terms as President. His love for God and his Catholic Faith extended to his church at St. Paul's in Westerville, where he served on the school board, parish fundraising committees and held a fourth degree in the Knights of Columbus Westerville Council. Buzz was also active in the Westerville community, where he served as a member of the "O" Club for Otterbein College and on the original committee to bring St. Ann's Hospital to Westerville. In addition, he served as a Councilman, Council President and over two terms as Mayor in the Village of Minerva Park. He also served as President of the Central Ohio Mayors and Municipal Association. Buzz was a devoted husband to his wife Mary Jean (Carfagna), a wonderful Father to his four children, Marsha (Lou) Mampieri, Jeffrey (Mary Ann), Ginamarie (Amedeo) Pagani and James Michael (Crystal). He is also survived by a host of family and friends, including his great friend and business partner Jim Tharp.

Jack R. Murray of Minerva Park passed away on Monday, March 17, 2008, at his residence. He was a retired real estate broker with Murray Real Estate, an Army Air Corps veteran of WWII and the Korean War, a retiree from Rockwell International and a past Mayor of Minerva Park. Jack is preceded in death by his wife, Virginia, and is survived by children, Jacqueline Hormer and Jeff (Patti) Murray; granddaughter, Sarabeth (Shawn) Hull; great-grandchildren, Zachary and Travis; sister, Virginia Marstrell; and brother, Mike Murray.

Mary V. Ey of Columbus passed away on Thursday, January 31, 2008 at Riverside Hospital. Mary was a former sales associate with Coldwell Banker King Thompson. She is survived by best friend and husband, Tom; father, William Jerome Smith; children, Tamie Ey, Rick (Teri) Ey, Deanna (Greg) Belmonte, Jennifer (Chris) North and John Ey; eight grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends. Charles D. Scott III, Owner of Scott Q Realty, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, January 23, 2008, at Regency Manor. Chuck was a Deacon at the Triedstone Baptist Church, a retired Lieutenant Colonel in U.S. Air Force and a Pilot during the Persian Gulf War. He was a active member with of Toastmasters Int., Urban Boy Scouts, and Tuskegee Alumni Club to name a few. Deacon Scott is survived by his wife, Maria Scott; mother, Margaret Scott, Selma, AL; children, Charles D. (Anjoli) Scott IV, Nia Scott, and Carver Scott; sister, Margaret (Grady) Broadnax; and a host of other relatives and friends. Homegoing 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 29, 2008, at Triedstone Baptist Church, 858 E. 3rd Ave. Viewing will begin at 11 a.m. and family will receive friends at 12 noon until time of service. Hubert Prince Cushman Jr., of Dublin, Ohio, left this earth in the presence of loved ones on Monday, December 17, 2007. He was a former sales associate with Century 21 Joe Walker & Associates REALTOR® and broker/owner of several companies in Coshocton and Columbus, Ohio. He graduated from Tufts University (Delta Tau Delta) and attended graduate school at Dartmouth. He served in Berlin and in the states as a security investigator and Russian Interpreter with the US Army. He is a past President of Ohio Commercial REALTORS® Exchange Association, member of The Mayflower Society and other genealogical and veterans organizations. Bert is survived by 6 children, 11 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, special friend and companion, Charlotte Rhoades, and a host of other relatives and friends. 

Roy F. Boyd, MAI, SRA, ASA, Upper Arlington, passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2007 at home. He was owner/manager of Arliss Mortgage Company, and formerly was an independent real estate fee appraiser and valuation consultant. He grew up in German Village and graduated from South High School in 1937, received a BA from Ohio Wesleyan University, a BA from Otterbein College, a BS from Franklin University, an MBA from The Ohio State University, and a JD from Capital University. He was a non-practicing attorney-at-law, and formerly was an adjunct instructor of real estate at The Ohio State University. Roy has served as a Trustee of the Columbus Board of REALTORS®, President of the Columbus Chapter of the Society of Real Estate Appraisers, and the President of the Columbus Chapter of the American Society of Appraisers. Roy is survived by his wife of forty-three years, Barbara; daughter, Melissa and son, Craig, of Lakewood. Donations may be made to Charity Newsies, 4300 Indianola Avenue, Columbus, OH 43214.

Stephen L. Rhodes, Worthington, passed away Saturday, November 24, 2007 at Kobacker House. Steve most recently worked for Coldwell Banker as a Commercial Real Estate Agent. He previously owned Lawnmowers Ohio in Hilliard, as well as the Arcade Barber Shop on Lane Avenue, and worked at Anchor Hocking in Lancaster. His volunteer work included, the Worthington Chapter of the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. Steve graduated from North High School in 1961, and served in the United States Air Force, which included an appointment as Honor Guard for President John F. Kennedy in Germany. He is survived by his wife, Janice Dearth Rhodes; daughter, Robin Rhodes Freeman; and granddaughter, Megan; son, Ron and daughter-in-law, Betsy Rhodes; and many beloved family members and friends. Joseph Francis "Franz" Harris, Jr. (Coldwell Banker King Thompson), age 62, entered into Eternal Life on Tuesday, November 6, 2007, at his residence. Franz was a graduate of Bishop Watterson High School; a lifetime member of OSU Alumni Association; member of the Columbus Board of REALTORS Million Dollar Sales Club and of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity; Sales Executive Club of Columbus Board Member; Grandview Education Foundation Board Member; Member of Our Lady of Victory Parish; member of Knights of Columbus, Fourth Degree and Past Grand Knight of Council #12900; Knight of the Year, 2005; Action for Children Board Member; and Special Olympics Volunteer Coach. He also was the general manager and vice president of Cordage Papers and a member of National Paper Trade Association. Franz was the beloved husband of 42-years to Sharon (Snee) Harris; loving father to Heidi (Arthur) Varner, Gretchen (Brad) Bertani, Christopher (Emily) Harris and Michael (Lori) Harris. Adored poppa of Madeleine, Grant, Lydia, Gretchen, Joey, Lindsey, Jack, McKenzie, Kate, and Caden and is also survived by a host of other relatives and friends. John F. Love (Real Living HER), age 74, formerly of Columbus, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, September 26, 2007. John was retired from City of Columbus Fire Department and in real estate with Real Living HER. He was an active member of 1st Baptist Church in Grove City and Parkview Baptist in Lakeland, Florida, where he resided in Florida for nearly 10 years. John is survived by loving and devoted wife of 34 years, Erma; children, Phil and David Love of Columbus, Dean Love, of MD, Dennis and Joanne Stump, of Columbus, Deborah and Mark Buehler of TN, Dixie and Jerry Murray of Columbus; 11 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends. Linda Varga Mascari (RE/MAX Premier Choice), age 58, of Dublin, fell softly into the arms of her Savior Saturday, September 15, 2007 at her home. Linda was a devoted wife, mother and friend, who will be dearly missed by her husband of 35 years, Chuck Mascari; daughter and son-in-law, Katie and Aaron Gausepohl; brother-in-law, Sam (Jackie) Mascari; sister-in-law, Mary Ann (Jack) Stark; cousins, Penny Varga and Bonnie (Richard) Bing; several nieces, nephews and many friends. Joyce Elaine Agriesti (Real Living HER) passed away on Saturday, September 1, 2007, at her home. Joyce is preceded in death by brother Gerald. Survived by her husband, Anthony M.; daughter, Annina; son, Anthony J.; sister, Dorothy Compton; brother, Dr. William M. (Tara) Chinn; brothers-in-law, Joseph (Petrina) and Charles (Bonnie); sister-in-law, Dolores DiSabato; and many nieces and nephews. Darrell R. Blankenship (Blankenship Real Estate) passed away suddenly on Wednesday, August 29, 2007. He worked originally for General Motors, and then developed Blankenship Real Estate where he worked for 35 years.  Darrel was preceeded in death by parents Roy and Mae Blankenship. He is survived by fiance, Cynthia "Cindy" Bashaw; son, Ryan Chaffin; daughter, Anita Sluzele; sister, Donna Miller; other family and friends. Bob Durban (RE/MAX Reflections) passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2007, at his home surrounded by family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a life-long resident of Hilliard and a graduate of Hilliard High School. He served his country proudly in Vietnam. As broker/owner of RE/MAX Reflections, Bob had many productive salespersons who were more like friends to him than business associates. He loved drag racing and drove the winning Class A Funny Car in the 1972 Gatornationals. Bob is survived by his mother, Frieda; brothers, John, George, Lee and Phillip; sisters, Kathleen and Deanna; a host of other relatives and friends; and his dog, Schrader. Family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Friday, July 20 at the TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich St., Hilliard, where funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, July 21. Interment Sunset Cemetery. James "Jim" Spires, former broker of HER Jim Spires and a resident of Cardington, passed away Sunday, September 14, 2008 at Altercare of Bucyrus. Jim worked for over 25 years as a real estate broker and was a member of both the CBR and the Morrow County Board of REALTORS®. In addition, he was a member of the Cardington First United Methodist Church, Cardington Rotary Club and delivered Meals on Wheels. Jim served his community on the Cardington-Lincoln School Board from 1988-1996, the Morrow County Hospital Board from 1996-2002 and the Farmers Citizens Bank Advisory Board from 1998-2004. He also served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. His passions in life were his family, a well-mowed lawn and hanging Christmas lights to create a Christmas glow. Jim is survived by his wife, Marilyn, sons, David (Karen), Mark (Tami), and Dan (Crystal) Spires all of Cardington, 11 grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
