Re-building in the Gulf Coast

The Ohio Association of REALTORS® (OAR) is looking for volunteers to form teams to help with the rebuilding efforts in the Gulf Coast region. OAR, through the National Association of REALTORS® and Habitat for Humanity's Global Village Program, has scheduled two 1 week home building trips to Slidell, Louisiana. Slidell along with much of the Gulf Coast Region was devastated by hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005.

Trip Information

• Trip Date: October 28 - November 3, 2007. The first and last days are travel days and the other five days are devoted to working.
• Teams will work on an East St. Tammany Habitat for Humanity affiliate site assisting in the construction of new homes.
• Volunteers of any skill level are encouraged to participate. There will be an on-site supervisor assisting the 
  team.
• Slidell is located in St. Tammany Parish, which is 30 minutes north of New Orleans.
• Teams will be made up of 10-20 volunteers and can include REALTORS®, family and/or friends. Volunteers 
  must be at least 18 years old.
• Team members are responsible for most of their own transportation, lodging, meals and other expenses 
  incurred during the trip. OAR will provide a financial contribution to each team member in the amount of 
  $500 per person, per trip.
• East St. Tammany Habitat for Humanity may be able to identify low cost housing at a local church or other 
  building. Another option is to stay at a local hotel.
