Unusual MLS Area Searches

The MLS has 87 areas from which to choose for searches and there are often key elements that determine specific results requested. Most practitioners are knowledgeable within their primary areas of marketing expertise but sometimes finding properties within selected areas to show clients outside those zones of familiarity can be especially challenging for even the most experienced REALTORS®.

Common searches for locating property to show clients may include zip code, city, school district and of course one or more of the 87 designated areas. However, there are unique situations when searches include subdivision and/or school district. Here are four examples:

  1. The Reserve at Glenross - Former Parade of Homes' Site, this community is in the corporation limits of  the City of Delaware (area D4) and is served by the Olentangy School District.
  2. Ballantrae - Former Parade of Homes' Site, this community is in the corporation limits of the City of Dublin (DU) and is served by the Hilliard School District.
  3. Villas at Rays Crossing - This condominium community is in the corporation limits of the City of Hilliard (area HI) and is served by the Dublin School District.
  4. Arlington Pointe - This condominium community is in the corporation limits of the City of Columbus (area  01) and is served by the Upper Arlington School District.

These are but a few examples of the unusual city-school relationships that can cause missed opportunities without knowing to include them in your searches for interested clients. Certainly these and other similar communities also exist within your MLS system and hopefully this article serves to bring to your attention the importance of knowing about them.

KeyboxTip

Hot tips for DisplayKEY users

  • Press Enter and 1 at the same time to reset or restart your DisplayKEY.
  • In dim light or at night, press and hold the Enter button to turn on your DisplayKEY's backlight.
  • If your cradle isn't working properly, unplug it and wait ten seconds, then plug it back in. This resets the cradle and may resolve the problem.
  • Enter your PIN code in the comfort of your car. Your DisplayKEY will search for a KeyBox for five minutes, giving you plenty of time to access the listing.
  • Remember that iBox key containers do not drop out when opened. Press up on the key container after you hear the fast beeps.

Handheld dos and don'ts for eKEY users
Follow these tips to extend the life of your handheld device.

DO

  • Use only the stylus to tap the screen instead of pens, pencils, or paper clips.
  • Use only the supplied AC charger to charge your handheld.
  • Use a soft, damp cloth for cleaning. To clean a dirty screen, use a soft cloth moistened with diluted window cleaning solution.
  • Use only 3.5 mm stereo headphones in your handheld's headphone jack.

DON'T

  • Don't drop or bang your handheld.
  • Don't carry your handheld in your back pocket -- you may accidentally sit on it!
  • Don't leave your handheld in a damp location or let it get wet.
  • Don't expose your handheld to very hot or cold temperatures. This includes placing it near a heater, leaving it in your car, or setting it by a window in direct sunlight.
