Recognizing our Commercial Leaders

For several years it has been a goal of the C/I Steering Committee to elevate the recognition of our well deserving commercial practitioners. Last year we had a record number of submittals and an unprecedented turnout to hear the humorous prognostications of Ted Jones, Chief Economist for Stewart Title Guaranty Company.

One would think it difficult to improve on such an event though I believe the C/I Recognition Committee has "risen to the occasion." As in previous years this event will be held during Forecast Night, which will be held January 18, 2007. Due to the ever increasing attendance and the popularity of this year's speaker we have moved the location to the Hilton Columbus at Easton.

Awards will be given again this year for:

Largest Transaction
Erika Blumenstein Award
Rookie of the Year
1031 Exchange Award

This year we're honored to have the host of Fox News Channel "The Heartland with John Kasich" as our speaker. Presently Mr. Kasich serves as managing director at Lehman Brothers Investment Banking Division. He maintains responsibilities across a range of industry groups on which Lehman Brothers focuses its investment banking activities including health care, power and utilities, technology and financial institutions. A member of Congress for 18 years he was elected to the Ohio State Senate in 1978 and to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1982. As chairman of the House Budget Committee, Kasich was the chief architect of the plan that balanced the federal budget. He also chaired the congressional committee that overhauled the welfare system.

Additionally, Kasich is a guest lecturer at the Ohio State University's Fisher College of Business. He also serves as chairman of New Century Project, a national grassroots organization that helps elected leaders who believe in the power of the individual.

Kasich has been named as one of Newsweek magazine's "100 People for the 21st Century." He is the author of the New York Times best seller, Courage is Contagious."
