2006 Foundation Fund Advisory Board Report

The REALTORS® Foundation Fund is having a great year so far!

Doug Mccloud, Chair
CBR Foundation Fund Advisory Board

Please let begin by saying that I am privileged to serve as your Chairman of the 2006 CBR Foundation Fund Advisory Board, and would like to take this opportunity to update all of you on the accomplishments of the Foundation Fund thus far in 2006.

REALTOR® CARE DAY The Foundation Fund once again, thanks to Skip & Linda Weiler's generous $10,000 contribution, funded REALTOR® Care Day. This year over 75 REALTORS® worked at a project off of Mt. Vernon Ave. in the near East neighborhood. Volunteers made general repairs, painted, landscaping maintenance and clean up, all those things that generally help to spruce up a neighborhood. The Foundation Fund also provided matching funds for several area associations who participated in REALTOR® Care Day with projects of their own, including: Greater Dublin, Midtown, Northeast/Westerville and Southern Delaware.

HOUSING RELATED PROJECT GRANTS The Foundation Fund has distributed a total of $12,400.00 in grants to: Creative Housing for their wheelchair ramp project, the Homeless Families Foundation, Material Assistance Providers for furnishing the homes of 28 families, and to the Greater Linden Development Corporation for their annual holiday lights program.

HONDROS SCHOLARSHIP GRANTS Two John P. Hondros Scholarships were awarded at a value of $3,200.00 each. These scholarships include both the pre and post-license courses -- as well as intensive sales training course. They are awarded to deserving students wishing to become REALTORS®.

GENERAL SCHOLARSHIP GRANTS Three scholarships totaling $6,150 were awarded to some very deserving students pursuing degrees in real estate at The Ohio State University or at Columbus State Community College.

DONOR RECOGNITION TASK FORCE This Task Force, chaired by CBR Past President Sam Calhoon, was created to find appropriate and better ways to recognize the generous contributors, like you, who give so we may help others. The Task Force is working on various ideas and hopes to have some suggestions for the Advisory Board to review soon.

LAST AND VERY IMPORTANT -- OUR ANNUAL FOUNDATION FUND CAMPAIGN We can't spend the dollars until we raise the dollars. On November 3rd, Co-Chairs Julie Morgan and Chris Pedon and their Campaign Committee held another successful Celebrity Waiters Luncheon and Auction at the Buckeye Hall of Fame Café. Many great local celebrities, former OSU players, and both former and current coaches all combined to make it a successful day.

The Celebrity Waiters Luncheon and Auction is our main fundraising event of the year. If you were there, of course thanks for your support. If you were not able to attend - please include our CBR Foundation Fund in your year-end charitable giving.

Thank you, once again, for allowing me to serve as your 2006 Columbus Board of REALTORS® Foundation Fund Chair.
