Deadline is November 3 for: Million Dollar Club Award

If you are planning to apply for the CBR $1, $5, $10 or $25 Million Dollar Club award, the deadline of November 3 is fast approaching. The sales award year is November 1, 2005 through October 31, 2006.

The Rules & Regulations were reformatted and revised for 2006. You can find them on CBR's web site ColumbusRealtors.com. Mouse over `Services', click on `Awards', then `Million Dollar Sales Club'.

Remember, in order to qualify, you must have fulfilled the service requirement which includes serving on a CBR committee (and meeting its attendance requirement) or serving as an officer in an area association.

When submitting your application...

    Closings PRIOR to Sept. 1, 2000:

  1. HUD/closing statement with applicant's signature, date, address, price and commission highlighted,
  2. Listing contract (worksheet & contract) [if taking credit for the listing]
  3. Purchase agreement [if taking credit for the sale]

    Closings AFTER Sept. 1, 2000:

  1. HUD/closing statement with applicant's signature, date, address, price and commission highlighted,
  2. Sales Certification Form - signed by you and the Settlement Agent (in lieu of purchase contract or listing contract),
  3. MLS Agent Full Report (with "SOLD" status) with name of applicant, date, address, and sold price highlighted.

It makes no difference if the listing agent(s) and selling agent(s) use the same form! You can use separate forms if you wish! Click here for the rules and application forms.

Lifetime Achievement Award

The Lifetime Achievement Award was created in 2005 to recognize members for their outstanding sales production as well as their long-time commitment to the Columbus Board of REALTORS®. To qualify for this prestigious award, current member applicants: 

  • Must have received CBR's 25 Million Dollar Sales Award 
  • Must have held membership in CBR for a minimum of 15 consecutive years 
  • Must obtain a minimum of 10 points* for CBR participation in the last 10 years:
    • Serve as CBR Officer - 7 points (for all years in chairs) 
    • Serve as CBR Director - 5 points (for each 3-year term) 
    • Serve as CBR Committee Chair - 3 points (for each term) 
    • Serve as CBR Committee Vice Chair - 2 points (for each term) Serve as CBR Committee member -1 point (for each year served) 
    • Serve as an Officer in Area Association - 1 point (for each year served) 
  • Must earn a minimum of 2 points through CBR committee participation for the calendar year in which this award is applied for meeting the attendance requirement established by the committee on which they serve (*7 of the 10 points must be derived specifically from CBR participation)

Members can only receive the Lifetime Achievement award once. The deadline for submitting the application for the award would be the same as the CBR sales awards. Awardees will be recognized with a special gift during the annual President's Ball. Establishing this award eliminates any need in the in the future to develop an award with a higher sales volume level.

Dues invoices to arrive via e-mail

Once again, the CBR REALTOR® due bills will be distributed via email. Paper bills will be sent to members who do not have an e-mail address in the system. Please be sure your e-mail address is correct in the CBR TempoTM MLS. If you are not a member of the MLS, you can check your e-mail address through the `Find a REALTOR®' or "Find an Affiliate' search on ColumbusRealtors.com. Sales Associates Day Raffle -- October 26

The Equal Opportunity Committee will again host a raffle at Sales Associates Day to raise funds for the grant program. Several nice prizes have been donated, including restaurant certificates and gift baskets for this event. So bring cash for a chance at one of these prizes and to contribute to this very worthwhile program.

CBR 2006 Elections

CBR is looking for a few good members to run for a position on the Board of Directors.

  • Resume and photo required by October 27, 2006 
  • Candidates must be CBR members in good standing. 
  • Must have held continuous membership in the Board for a minimum of three successive years

Anyone wishing to run for a position on the Board of Directors should submit their resume and photo to Kathy Elliott, 2700 Airport Drive, Columbus, Ohio 43219, by the above due date. Those elected in the upcoming elections will begin their term January 1, 2007.

Jan Looman Memorial Fund

The Jan Looman University District Memorial Fund was created in 2000 in memory of former HER REALTOR® Jan Looman. Jan was instrumental in the development of the Affordable Housing Committee's Roundtable with the Columbus Board of REALTORS® and specialized in helping buyers purchase their first homes.

The Jan Looman University District Memorial Fund offers the opportunity to qualified buyers purchasing their primary residence in the University District to receive a gift from the fund. Qualified eligible buyers must be at or below 100% of the HUD Area Median Income Guidelines and may receive between $350 or $500 (depending on location) in the form of a gift from the fund to be applied towards closing costs, inspections, insurance or other allowable fees by the lender in the home buying process. These gifts will be funded in conjunction with the closing of the property.

Spotlight on Community Service Application -- November 1

The Columbus Board of REALTORS® Communication Committee is accepting applications for the 4th quarter 2006 Spotlight on Community Service recognition. Four members will be selected and featured in the January In Contract for their work in the community. If you or a colleague is deserving of this recognition, please nominate yourself or your colleague by completing the application available online at ColumbusRealtors.com. The deadline for submitting the application is November 1, 2006.

Reciprocity with Ohio

The following states have reciprocity agreements with the Ohio Division of Real Estate & Professional Licensing:

Arkansas              Kentucky           Oklahoma
Colorado               Mississippi         West Virginia
Connecticut           Nebraska           Wyoming

For real estate licensees the provisions are identical for every state with which Ohio has reciprocity. A copy of the provisions can found on their website at: www.com.state.oh.us/realform.htm.
