News & Information : In Contract Magazine : October 2006 : Member News Member NewsAngela Holloway, Coldwell Banker King Thompson, has been awarded the Certified Affordable Housing REALTOR® (CAHR) certification. This certification recognizes those REALTORS® who have committed their time and obtained experience in working the affordable housing market. To qualify for the certification program, criteria must be met in the areas of affordable housing transactions, association activities, and education and community involvement. Jaime Beane, HER Real Living, recently received the Brass Award status during her first full year in the real estate industry. This award is presented to agents who have $1.5 to $3 million in-closed volume or have completed 10 to 19 transaction sides in a year. Phil Crawford, HER Real Living, recently achieved the Bronze Award status. This award is presented to agents who have $3 to $5 million in-closed volume or have completed 20 to 35 transaction sides in a year. Carl Faehnle, HER Real Living, recently received Rotary International's distinguished "Service Above Self" Award for outstanding and devoted service in Rotary's worldwide goal of eradicating polio. As past president of the Rotary Club of Columbus, Carl served as chair of the Polio Eradication Committee for one of Rotary International's 500 districts. CBR Welcomes... Karen Sobotka who you may have seen at the front desk as she has been with us since January, 2006 as a temp, was hired permanently as CBR Receptionist this summer. Just prior to CBR, Karen worked in credit administration for United Midwest Savings Bank. But prior to that, she spent 14 years as an administrative assistant with Coldwell Banker in Mansfield OH and Chattanooga TN. Karen resides in Pataskala with husband of 33 years, Larry. Her three adult daughters and 3 grandchildren all reside in Ohio for optimal visiting privileges! In Memoriam Peter Hoff, age 71, entered into eternal peace September 14, 2006 at his home in Columbus, Ohio. Peter was a sales associate with Renaissance Realty, Inc., a veteran of the U.S. Army (1953-1956), where he was assigned to the Far East Command in Japan and a University of Akron graduate with a bachelor's degree in industrial management. Peter spent many years traveling the Third World (while based in Philadelphia) designing and building manufacturing facilities to help improve the standard of living in those areas. He lived and worked in Iran from 1968-1970, was employed as a management consultant in New York City in the 1970s; operated his own career counseling and resume preparation service in Kent, Ohio, in the 1980s and early 1990s; and became a licensed REALTOR® in Ohio after moving to Columbus in 1994. He was a long-time member of North Congregational United Church of Christ, where he held leadership roles in various ministries with a special emphasis on music. An avid composer, he wrote for the musical stage as well as secular and sacred songs. He was an accomplished stained-glass artist, cook and gardener and was involved with the annual Victorian Village Tour of Homes in several capacities from 1999-2005. He is survived by his life partner of 16 years, David Hagelin of Columbus. Cremation has occurred. A Celebration of Life service was held Sunday, October 1st at North Congregational Church. William "Bill" Murnane, age 58, of Powell, passed away after a 12-year battle with cancer on Sunday, September 17, 2006 at Kobacker House. Bill was Superintendent and a Certified Property Manager and REALTOR® with the Wallace F. Ackley Company for the past 32 years. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, a member of Powell United Methodist Church and an avid boater, where he was past-Commodore of the Scioto Boat Club. He served on the Liberty Township Board of Zoning Appeals for many years, was a former member of the Rotary Club of Powell and of the Shamrock Club. Bill is survived by his wife, Ann; their son, Christopher Murnane of Powell; daughters, Camilla Murnane of Roanoke, VA, Stephanie (Sean) Forney of Westerville, and Caitlin Murnane of Powell. If they choose, in Bill's memory, friends may make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, 870 Michigan Avenue, Columbus, OH 43215. |
