Memoriams


Patricia A. Hummer, HER Real Living, passed away on August 13, 2006. She was well known for her successful career in real estate, which includes over thirty years with HER. Patt has served as an active member of the Columbus Board of REALTORS®, the Ohio Association of REALTORS® and the Ohio Women's Council of REALTORS®, where she has received numerous awards from each. She has had articles published in trade journals and spoke at state and national conventions. Patt lived in Reynoldsburg for over forty years, holding numerous civic leadership roles, including president of the Reynoldsburg Chamber of Commerce and the Reynoldsburg Economic Development Committee. Patt is survived by her children Terry (Bob) Mullenax, Lorri (Jeff) Matern, and Don (Jennifer) Hummer; and six grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, friends who wish may donate to the Livingston House Society (c/o Art Jacobs, Treasurer, 7860 Palmer Rd., Reynoldsburg, Ohio 43068) or to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in care of Kristen Beadle, P.T., (R.B.A. Associates, 698 Morrison Rd., Columbus, Ohio 43213) who will be running in Patt's memory as a member of the Team in Training for the Columbus Marathon.

Tim C Hough, 57, of Pataskala, passed away suddenly August 9, 2006 at his home. Tim, a sales associate with USA-1 Real Estate, was devoted to his family, friends and community. He took great joy in his role as Santa at the annual "USA-1 Photos with Santa" and brought the holiday spirit to many children and the community. Tim was retired from Lucent Technologies and a member of the Reynoldsburg Police Reserves. He is survived by his wife, Fran; daughters, Valerie Anne and Hilary Dawn; and 3 grandchildren.

Sarah Jane Kiley, 47, of Bexley, lost her eight-year battle with Primary Biliary Cirrhosis, an autoimmune liver disease on Thursday, June 29, 2006. Sarah had three main passions: family, PBCers, and her real estate career. She was a sales associate with RE/MAX Town Center. She was also known to dabble in politics and was a lifelong Democrat. She will be sorely missed in Rubinos, Cup O' Joes, all her favorite hangouts. Sarah is survived by her husband Richard; and daughters Jordan and Rebekah. Memorial contributions preferred to PBCers Organization, 1430 Garden Road, Pearland, Texas 77581.

Robert S. Garek, 67, passed away recently. The Columbus native began his real estate career in 1964, founded RS Garek Associates Ltd. in 1997, and later formed Feibel-Garek REALTORS® with Don Feibel. His charitable activities included service\ as board president of the Buckeye Boys' Ranch and as a trustee at Temple Israel. He was closely associated with Marburn Academy, a Columbus school for children with learning disabilities he co-founded in 1981 with wife, Majorie. In addition to his wife, Robert is survived by daughters Elizabeth Garek, Debra Parkes and Patricia Harp. Contributions may be made to Marburn Academy, 1680 Walden Drive, Columbus, Ohio 43229.

Richard Scott Mileff, 43, of New Albany, OH, died suddenly, Tuesday, July 11, 2006 as the result of a motorcycle accident. He was a 1981 graduate of Gahanna-Lincoln High School, received his B.S. from Capital University and was a REALTOR® with HER Real Living. In addition, he was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a graduate of the Columbus Fire Academy. Rick served on the Mifflin Twp. Fire Dept. for several years before joining the Columbus Division of Fire. He was promoted to lieutenant in 1998 and was a member of the dive team, the bomb squad and was a licensed paramedic. Rick received 2 Battalion Chief Commendations as well as a Distinguished Service Award. Lt. Mileff's last assignment was to Ladder 2. He enjoyed volleyball and Harley riding. He is survived by his daughters, Ashley and Jessica Mileff. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Capital Area Humane Society in his name.

John D. Dempsey, 77, passed away July 26, 2006. John was broker/owner of John D. Dempsey Realty and a 23-year member of the Columbus Board of REALTORS®. He was U. S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, a member of Charity Newsies and an avid fan of harness racing. John is survived by sons, Mark (Mary Lou) Dempsey and Scott Dempsey; grandson, Jason Dempsey; and life-long friend and companion, Carol Kaufman. In lieu of flowers, donations in John's memory may be made to Charity Newsies, 4300 Indianola Ave., Columbus, OH 43214.

Darwin L Allen, 85, of Grove City, died Friday, July 28, 2006 at Monterey Care Center. Darwin was as a sales associate with Saxton Real Estate for 20 years where he was a member of Saxton's Multi Million Dollar Producers Club. Prior to becoming a REALTOR®, he was general sales manager at Flo-Lizer, Inc. He was an active 4-H Leader in Pickaway County, a collector of Indian artifacts and a member of the Grove City United Methodist Church. He traveled extensively with his wife to Europe, Hawaii and many other places. He had many friends that he met in the Ag chemical and real estate businesses, was an avid baseball fan who liked the Cincinnati Reds. Darwin is survived by his children, Linda (David) Neece and Michael (Terri) Allen of Hilliard; 6 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.

John H. Colyer, RE/MAX Town Center, lost his prolonged and courageous battle with cancer on August 2, 2006. John and his wife, Molly, are most thankful for the blessings, prayers and support of their many friends, family, neighbors and fellow REALTORS®. An avid reader, John enjoyed traveling, bird watching, euchre club and most of all golfing. He and his wife were also very supportive of various charities, specifically Children's Hospital and their Huntington Hills neighborhood. In addition to his wife, John is survived by 3 stepchildren and 2 grandchildren.
