Alan Jones

Alan Jones, RE/MAX Affiliates, is a long-time American Red Cross blood donor and his gift is particularly special because he is a platelet apheresis (ay-fer-ee-sis) donor. Most patients undergoing a bone marrow transplant, surgery, chemotherapy, radiation treatment or organ transplant need platelets in order to survive. In fact, doctors are finding that platelets play a vital role in more and more new therapies.

With just a five-day storage life, platelet donations are delivered quickly to the patients who need them and platelet donors have the satisfaction of knowing that their donation will be saving a life within just a few days.

In 2005, Alan was awarded admission to the "American Red Cross' Century Club" for giving over 100 donations during his lifetime. Over the years, he has probably given over 125 donations.

Alan also sits on the Board of Directors for the Central Ohio Muscular Dystrophy Association. In addition, he have previously been a fund raiser for the American Cancer Society's Daffodil & cookie sales, Sertoma Club 4th of July celebration, and the Children's Miracle Network, Easter Seals & MDA Telethons.

Alan says, "My parents taught me, and continue to show by example, the more you give the more you get. And the good feeling you get from doing your part to help others is a wonderful return on investment of your time."
