Why join COCIE?
We've been telling you about the new Central Ohio Commercial Information Exchange (COCIE) now for several months. As of January 1, 2006, the new COCIE is up and running under the ownership of the Columbus Board of REALTORS® with Xceligent as the vendor. The new COCIE combined the original Xceligent database with all CCIIR listings and CBR commercial listings (including multi-unit housing).

Membership up by 60%
Back in September when we went public with the new COCIE, there were 230 members from 80 companies subscribing to the then current CDX system run by Xceligent. As of January 24, 2006, we now have 387 members from 114 companies. Of these, there are 43 CBR residential members from 24 residential companies (see sidebar.)

Non-Members get access to 2,900 listings
The database that is online and searchable by the general public (and non-members) includes: All commercial properties LISTED by COCIE members - 2,900 listings

COCIE Members get access to 3,600 listings and 10,500 properties
Through the COCIE database, COCIE members have access to: All commercial properties LISTED by COCIE members - 2,900 listings All commercial properties LISTED by non-members - 700 listings All commercial properties - 10,500
 
Training Class Required
In order to participate in COCIE, you must take a class which covers the COCIE rules and regulations as well as instruction on how to use the system. Passwords for access to the COCIE database will be issued temporarily for the first thirty (30) days upon application and payment of initial fees by the Participants and/or Subscribers and then issued permanently upon the completion of the training class.

Training classes are approved for 3 hours of continuing education credit. Cost is $30 with CE credit, free if no CE is requested. Following is the schedule of upcoming classes:

• Thursday, February 2  9:00 to 12:15 p.m.
• Wednesday, February 8  1:00 to 4:15 p.m.
• Tuesday, February 14  9:00 to 12:15 p.m.
• Tuesday, February 21  1:00 to 4:15 p.m.
• Thursday, March 9  9:00 to 12:30 p.m.
• Tuesday, March 21  1:00 to 4:30 p.m.

Interested in becoming a COCIE member
