The Coming Attractions

Wow, September was a busy month! The state Convention provided many opportunities to discuss industry issues as well as time for networking. Additionally, several CBR members were recognized or elected so be sure to read Lynda Long's report.

We have several events and programs coming up which many of you will want to attend such as: Broker/Manager Day on October 6; a commercial Outlook seminar on October 12 sponsored by CBR, CCIIR and CREW; a new construction seminar `From the Ground Up' on October 21 sponsored by the BIA and CBR's Builder/REALTOR® Alliance Committee; the annual commercial Halloween Forecast on October 27; and many more education classes.

But, the most important event coming up this month is our annual Sales Associates Day on October 20 at the Aladdin Shriner Complex. This day begins with the Annual Business Meeting in the morning during which we briefly review some of our most interesting and relevant business issues. The REALTOR® Expo from 11am to 1pm is always the favorite part of the day. With over 100 vendors again, be sure to bring plenty of business cards and comfortable shoes! The feature article this month is about the new Central Ohio CIE (Commercial Information Exchange.) As a commercial broker, you can imagine how excited I am to see this new system get underway. We've spent countless hours working out the details to ensure this new CIE will be the most valuable tool available to Central Ohio commercial real estate professionals. Many many thanks go to all of the commercial agents involved in all the aspects of the planning but especially to David Hartsook, Mike Simpson, Greg Hrabcak, Jim Coridan, Andy Madison, Shad Phipps, Chris Potts, Tom Morris, and Fil Line. (My apologies to anyone I've missed.) Also, I'd like to thank Cara Immel of Xceligent, Larry Metzger and Mike Gautier for the time they've spent helping to implement this fabulous tool.
