John Watkins

John Watkins is an active member of St. Andres Catholic Church, where he serves as a member of the Parish Council, is an usher, and serves as an Eucharistic Minister administrating communion to shut-ins, people in nursing homes and to church members.

As one of the 12 members on the  Parish Council, John helps guide and serves as a sounding board for the pastor on matters of the church.

For the past five years, he has also served as a member of the Corporate Sponsorship Committee of St. Andrew's Annual Community Festival. This event, for both the church and the community, has become a true community family affair bringing together more than 20,000 Catholics and non-Catholics for a weekend of games, food and rides.

As a member of the Corporate Sponsorship Committee, John works with St. Andrew's Pastor Father Michael and others to help bring in money to fund this event each year. Last year, they raised $37,000.

When asked about his commitment to working in the church and in the community, John cites, "I thought I was poor when I had no shoes and I saw a man who had no feet. Our heavenly Father put us on earth to serve others."
