2005 C/I Education Committee Report

Education is a progressive discovery of our own ignorance.

Will Durant

Peggy Vogel, Chair
C/I Education Committee

Education. What thoughts come to mind? Years of waking early in the morning and rolling out of bed? Rushing out the door to get to school on time? Long hours of studying? Maybe your thoughts go to sporting events, reading Shakespeare, learning the Pythagorean theorem or being proud of the fact that you know what NaCl is. Whatever your thoughts, we all have memories of our education growing up. You may even agree with Aristotle who said, "The roots of education are bitter, but the fruit is sweet." And sweet it is.

As a real estate professional, you have the opportunity to expand your knowledge of real estate and make yourself more valuable to your clients. Think about it. Through continuing education and C/I luncheons offered at the Columbus Board of REALTORSâ, you can learn about Procuring Cause, Business Brokerage, Tax Incentives and Internet Marketing just to name a few.

The C/I Education Committee puts much thought into considering what courses to offer our peers. What courses will benefit the commercial REALTORâ? What information should be included? Who will best present the information? This criteria and more are considered in order to benefit the Commercial REALTORâ and increase his/her knowledge of the real estate market.

With six months remaining in 2005, take advantage of the courses being offered at the Columbus Board of Realtors. A C/I luncheon in July offers an update on growth and development in Delaware County. Joe Testa, Franklin County Auditor, will present a course in August to Technology Users, Commercial and Residential REALTORSâ. This course will focus on the Auditor's website and how to access information that will benefit REALTORSâ. Fall offerings include Commercial Real Estate Investment Analysis, an update on Polaris, Real Estate Trends in the Next Decade, C/I Forms and more.

Take advantage of these courses and sign up early! Look for an email on upcoming course offerings! Or look in the yellow "Classtime" section of the magazine and online at CBR's web site www.ColumbusRealtors.com.

Education. How sweet it is!
