Spotlight on Community Service

By Carol Bell, 2003 Chair Communication Committee As real estate professionals, we realize that our success is proportional to our commitment - to our own industry education, our clients, and our communities. We're guessing that about eight of every ten of you reading this article right now are involved in some way in your community.  Some of you have volunteered for several charitable or service organizations.  And many of you are involved in only one or two programs or services.  The point is that you are involved.

Your involvement demonstrates your commitment to helping your children, your neighbors, and perhaps those less fortunate.  All of these activities work, in turn, to make our communities stronger, healthier, better!

And we think the public needs to hear this.

Therefore, the 2003 Communication Committee is pleased to introduce the Spotlight on Community Service award.

This award was created to recognize REALTORS® who are involved in their communities.  And not just those we might deem exceptional volunteers - but the everyday volunteers.  Those of you who volunteer for activities such as PTO treasurer, youth soccer coach,  Sunday school teacher, big brother, tutor, fundraiser, meals-on-wheels, Habitat for Humanity, special olympics, etc., etc.

Whether a single event or ongoing program, these activities demonstrate personal commitment on the part of Central Ohio REALTORS® to better our communities.

In addition to recognizing members in the In Contract magazine, we'll be sending press releases to the local papers where award recipients live and work.  Each quarter, the Communication Committee will select four CBR members from the applications submitted.  You'll find the application inserted in this issue of the magazine.  The deadline for submissions is October 1, 2003.  The next four awardees will appear in the January, 2004 issue of the magazine.
