Harold Jackson

Harold Jackson serves as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for abused, neglected and dependent children who are the subject of Court proceedings in the Delaware County Juvenile Court.

The program provides carefully selected, thoroughly trained, and responsibly supervised CASA volunteers who serve on each case with guardians ad litem (attorneys who provide legal support) to represent the best interests of these children and to advocate for a safe, permanent, nurturing home for each child. CASA volunteers gather information and make recommendation to the judge as to what is in the child’s best interest. The judge then decides what family or other living arrangement is best for the child. Harold has been a CASA volunteer for 8 months.

Harold also is a volunteer for the American Red Cross Disaster Team, Delaware Chapter and was recently named Rookie of the Year for his enthusiasm and visible impact on the community. He has taken disaster training, donates blood and work at bloodmobiles as a greeter. He also has assisted with many of the Red Cross community activities, has passed out chapter information, and he works especially well with children in the ‘Keep Me Safe’ Program, taking fingerprints and pictures for this identification kit.

On his commitment to working with the juvenile court system and the American Red Cross disaster team, Harold says, “I volunteer for these two organizations because I wanted to be involved in my community where I could make a difference in peoples lives. What better way than to assist individuals and families through a disaster or to help improve the environment for children to live healthy and happy lives?”
