A League of Extraordinary Leaders

As this is my first column, I want to begin by saying I am deeply honored to serve as your 2005 President of, what I believe, is the most extraordinary local Board of REALTORS® in all of NAR. And what is most exciting is the cast of characters and crew I get to lead with!
We have a remarkable group of Officers & Directors (listed on page 3) in the Boardroom this year making decisions about how maintain and improve the caliber of our organization.
We are blessed to have a very seasoned and dedicated crew led by our CEO, Larry Metzger who, many say, is the best local board Executive Officer in the country. And I concur.
We have a large group of dedicated Committee Chairs (listed on page 40) that will be donating their skills and expertise to improve your Board services this year. Please don't miss your opportunity to be a part of that process by signing up for a CBR committee (form inserted after page 40). After all, our success depends on audience participation and review!
And, last but not least are you members - the producers - as you truly provide the direction with which we follow! We have REALTOR® volunteer levels that are unheard of in many boards in this country. As I have traveled to OAR and NAR meetings and talked with other local board officers, it obvious to me that, not only do we have the best staff around, but, we have some of the best REALTORS® around.
Whether it is volunteering your time, donating your money to CORPAC or the CBR Foundation Fund, giving blood, signing up to be a bone marrow donor or contributing to a disaster relief fund, you are truly extraordinary!
FYI - The cover of this issue of the magazine was created by CBR Graphic Design Coordinator, Nate Huber, to support the adventure movie theme of our upcoming Leadership Retreat in January. 'Indiana Doug' is obviously a take off on the Indiana Jones movie, but works for me also, as a large amount of my commercial business transactions over the years have been in Indiana. And I think I've made clear how the 'league of distinguished leaders' fits our theme.
Again, thank you for the honor of allowing me to serve as your 2005 President. With your participation, I know this will be the adventure of a lifetime!
