News & Information : In Contract Magazine : November 2004 : 2004 Builder/REALTOR® Alliance Committee Report 2004 Builder/REALTOR® Alliance Committee Report
Anneliese: It has been fun. I can’t believe it is almost over. Thinking back on it, we have had good times and accomplished a lot. Dllona: REALTOR® day at the Parade of Homes was successful, again. It is a wonderful opportunity for them to preview Parade Homes for clients. Anneliese: It is fun. Since the purpose of BRAC is to improve and enhance builder-REALTOR® relationships, this is an important function. Dllona: Remember at the Retreat, we agreed we wanted to increase the networking opportunities among our BRAC members. Anneliese: Yes, and we have. I really like the idea of the builders holding sessions with a groups of REALTORS® to see what input they have. Dllona: It is a wonderful format for REALTORS® and builders to have a little one-on-one; actually more like 5 or 6-on-one. The REALTORS® have such good information from working with the public every day. Although the builders do too, I think people are more likely to tell their real estate agent about things they would like to see differently in homes. Anneliese: It gives them both a format to talk about what they need to do to work together more effectively. Having the builders present the ideas from their groups gives the builders great face time with the whole committee. It has been positive. Dllona: Speaking of positive, this committee has grown so much - over 300 members. Anneliese: Well, it just makes sense to join BRAC with all the great speakers. Dllona: It is one of the things I like best about BRAC, the monthly presentations by people in the building industry. I am a big education nut, so having speakers each month is right up my alley. I agree, we’ve had some great ones. Anneliese: I thought Katie, Lori (Clark & Ashcraft of M/I) and Jeff (Pruzan of Rockford) did a great job. They covered a wide range of financing options available by all builders. Not everyone is aware of some of the advantages. Dllona: We really gave them their money’s worth in September with two speakers covering vinyl and fibercement siding, stucco and cultured stone. That meeting ran over, but people stayed and asked questions. That’s a good thing. Anneliese: Tom Dobberstein of DiYanni Homes gave a terrific presentation on scattered site building. There are so many things we need to know. As people keep moving further and further out, we have more need for agents who understand the process. Dllona: We covered a good array of topics from healthy homes to landscaping. Our product speakers gave up-dates on the technology and improvements in many products that give us better homes today: cellulose insulation, vinyl windows, vinyl siding, fiber-cement siding, cultured stone and stucco. It is amazing how far some products have advanced. Anneliese: We are lucky to have Marque (Bressler) as our CBR liaison. She helps us a lot. Dllona: Yes she does. She is a big part of our success. Dllona & Anneliese: Thank you, Marque! 2004 BRAC speakers
