Member Services : Awards Programs : Spotlight on Community Service : Mandy Harless Mandy Harless
As a Habitat family advocate, Mandy serves as the liaison between the Habitat administrative office, the construction department and the family. She regularly visits the family, checks on the progress of the construction and answers questions the family may have about the building process. Both of the families Mandy has worked with have been from other countries and faced cultural and language barriers. Mandy was very instrumental in helping them transition into this country and homeownership through Habitat. Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry that encourages businesses, churches, organizations and people of all faiths to work together to eliminate substandard housing. Founded in 1976, Habitat has completed over 130 homes in the Greater Columbus area, 120,539 worldwide. Mandy says, "My committment to Habitat stems from my deepest desire & belief that every person deserves a safe and healthy place to live. The opportunity that Habitat offers families who may otherwise never own a home, is a key factor in enpowering them to success in life. The fact that I am able to participate in this process (in a very small way) and share in the success of these efforts, is truly a blessing." |
