Carol Prigan

Carol Prigan has been involved with Avalon Elementary School PTA for the past 5 years, where she has worked in a number of different capacities and, this year, serves as the PTA Treasurer.

In her involvement with the PTA, Carol has helped to plan and participate in numerous fundraising activities, including the Spring Flower Sale, Monthly Market Day at the school and the PTA fall fundraiser. All of these activities are labor intensive and require volunteer hours to help with pre-ordering, sorting and filling orders.

Through the fundraisers, the PTA has been able to purchase items, such as playground equipment, and televisions and VCRs for the classroom. They also have been able to provide teachers with funds to use in the classroom, sponsor honor roll lunches, host the school's open house in the fall, support the chess team, provide bulletin boards to recognize good citizens from the classrooms and to sponsor the Artist in the School Program.

Avalon is a uniform school and the PTA also participates in selling Avalon school wear at special events and conferences.

Carol says, "I'm committed to being involved in Avalon Elementary PTA because this is where my daughter attends school and I feel that it's valuable to be involved in the school. Kids like it when parents are present and involved. They recognize you and ask for your help. Most importantly, I like to set a good example for my daughter."
