News & Information : In Contract Magazine : October 2004 : President's Perspective President's PerspectiveI'm talking to You?
Are you currently involved with your Columbus Board of REALTORS®? Are you on a Columbus Board of REALTORS® committee or serve as a Director? Do you know what your CBR does? For those of you who answered in the affirmative, thank you for all of your service. For those of you who did not, you need to get involved. It is good for you and your business as well as good for the CBR. Being involved, networking with those who are active, is clearly good for business. It is your association. You have as much of a say as any other member. I know that many hesitate to get involved for many reasons. However, it is easy at the CBR. Sometimes you must take the initiative and make a call. The 2005 Committee Registration form inserted in this magazine lists all of the committees available to you. You can fill out this form and submit it or call the board to volunteer. You can call me if you are not comfortable calling the board. My number is 614-221-4286, extension 102. The CBR is the best board in the country for many reasons. We have the best staff from the print shop in the basement to the CEO on the top floor, everyone is extremely helpful, friendly and competent. Being the biggest trade association in the city, we carry the most lobbying weight and the board does an excellent job monitoring and acting on the issues affecting REALTORS®. We are heard by local, state and federal politicians. There’s no one that does a better job of staying on top of the politics that affect us. The board does many, many things besides MLS. The MLS is important and the hardware and software that goes with it are vital; however, many other things are accomplished at the CBR. Get involved and learn about them. |
