Voter Registration Packets Available

Voter Registration Packets available at CBR for members and thier clients

Everyone has their own reasons for voting.  But, as REALTORS®, we have an even greater need to vote as the outcome can affect our industry.

Failed area tax and education levies can not only impede growth and development, they can change the perception and consequently the value of homes in that area.

The right legislators can implement laws which encourage growth and prosperity.  The wrong legislator can do the opposite.

As of the 2000 census, only 66% of the voting-age citizens were registered. And in the Congressional election of November 2002, only 46 percent of the voting-age population, voted.

According to the Census, voters didn’t get to the polls because they were too busy, weren’t interested, didn’t like the candidates or issues, didn’t feel their vote would make a difference or forgot.

Everyone should Vote -- Especially REALTORS®

Election Day is Tuesday,
November 2, 2004.

Deadline to register to vote is
October 4, 2004.

Most of you reading this article are regularly exercising your right to vote.  But you can do more.  You can encourage your clients to register and vote.

Voter registration packets are now available at our CBR Membership Headquarters.  This was a joint venture between CBR and the League of Women Voters.  The packets are free of charge.  If you are not registered to vote, please pick up a packet for yourself.

If you want to do more – pick up packets for your new home owners.  Most new owners are busy with a myriad of other details when they move into their new home.  Many of them may not get around to registering until later or after it’s too late for the next important election.  So this is a great service you can provide.

While the right to vote is taken for granted by many Americans, universal suffrage in this country was hard won.  During our history, it was impossible for those without property, for women and for African Americans to exercise their right to vote.

A right worth struggling for is a right worth exercising.
