C/I Membership Committee Conducts personal interviews with new broker applicants

C/I Membership Committee

Having served on the C/I Membership committee since 2001, and now acting as chairman, I have had an opportunity to meet many Commercial Applicants, including both Broker’s and Agent’s.  While there has been a steady decline in applicants over the past 3 years, your C/I Membership committee continues to be active.  This trend appears to be directly related to the downturn in the Commercial market since 2000-01. 

The tasks of the C/I Membership committee are several fold, namely the following:

1. Conducting personal interviews with new broker applicants.
2. Reviewing all salesperson applications.
3. Compiling and updating the C/I Quick Reference Manual
4. Promoting C/I Education to new applicants.
5. Exploring discounts available to board members for products and services which may be of value to the C/I practitioner.

The primary function of the C/I Membership committee is to review applicants and improve services to be provided to CI members, ultimately encouraging more commercial Realtor® participation in the CBR. The C/I Membership committee is presently comprised of Matt Murtha, Jerry Hall, Bill Armstrong, Shad Phipps, Rick Smith and Andy Weeks all of whom are assisted by CBR staff liaison Lenora Moore. This group brings both experience and diversity to the table.

The C/I Membership committee has produced and published a Commercial/Investment Quick Reference Manual which is revised every two years. This spiral bound package is free to all C/I members and offers a variety of information such as,

• valuable web site addresses
• listing of products and services for which board members are to receive discounts
• an alphabetized phone and address directory of all C/I members
• contact names of other C/I oriented organizations, such as the Columbus Commercial Industrial and Investment Realtors® (CCIIR), (v) a glossary of real estate terminology pertinent to the commercial/industrial real estate industry
• blank forms geared toward the C/I practice of real estate.
