Rick Smith, Chair
C/I Education Committee

The C/I Education Committee has been very busy this year working hard to provide informative, useful and valuable courses for the C/I REALTOR® members of the Board.  We have set goals for the 2004 agenda to:

  1. Offer the three required courses (Core Law, Ethics and Civil Rights) made applicable to CI practitioners every year – point out that all these courses can be taken more than once in a 3-year cycle…i.e. Core Law can be used for keeping up-to-date on any legal changes that are enacted on a timely basis.
  2. Coordinate our C/I course offerings with the (RS) Education Committee to jointly sponsor or promote like-kind courses…courses that have equal importance to both sections…i.e., Procuring Cause Course.
  3. Continue to offer 6+ CI luncheons with CE on various timely and pertinent subjects.  (See upcoming luncheons below)
  4. Design 4-5 new courses or improve existing courses based on the new feedback comment forms.  Also trying to set up the course agenda earlier in the year (a continual goal for this committee that usually falls short).

I think we are doing a good job of successfully pursing these goals for the year.  We endeavor to better advertise the course offerings in the In Contract magazine and via e-mail to reach more CI members.  We look forward to having more Residential Section members take some of our CI offerings to learn what CI practitioners do (or are suppose to do).

Overall, as a very active committee, we continue to be dedicated to providing many quality and pertinent C/I Continuing Education classes for the Columbus Board of REALTORS®.  We continue to strive to have CE courses that are professionally presented, interesting, useful and valuable to our members.  If any REALTOR® member wishes to make a course or content suggestion for the Committee, please contact Lucy Hadley at (614) 475-4000 x240 and she will bring your suggestion to our regular monthly meeting for consideration.
