Perry & Co. and a leader in the Columbus community, passed away Tuesday, May 4, 2004 at the Kobacker House at Riverside Hospital. He was a member of the Ohio and Colorado Bar Associations, The National Association of Home Builders, a past trustee of the Building Industry Association (BIA) of Central Ohio and a member of the Registered Builder Committee. In 2001, he was selected the BIA Builder of the Year. He has served on the Board of Directors of Adventures for Wish Kids, The American Lung Association of Central Ohio, and the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Greater Ohio and Central Kentucky and has actively supported many Central Ohio charities. Marcia Lynn Denmead, age 55, RE/MAX Consultants Group, of New Albany, passed away on Friday, June 18, 2004 at her residence. Elmer E. ‘’Gene’’ Collins, father of CBR’s Assistant Executive Officer Stan Collins, died Friday, June 18, 2004 at the age of 84, after a long battle with cancer. A graduate of East High School, class of 1937, Gene served in World War II in the 37th Calvary Recon Troop for five years including Guadalcanal and the Pacific campaigns at New Georgia and Bougainville in the Solomon Islands, and at Luzon in the Phillipines. As a jungle fighter in the 37th Recon Troop, he was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation for long jungle patrols and front line combat at Hill 700 (Bougainville) during ‘’bloody March’’ when approximately half of his unit was killed in action. Associate for 45 years with Ohio State Life Insurance Company as agent and general agent. Served as President of Columbus Life Underwriters Association, member of The Masonic Temple, Humbolt Lodge, Past Patron of Community Chapter 025.
