Keynote Speaker

Guest speaker, Jonathan Litt, Senior Real Estate Analyst for Smith Barney, delivered his predictions for the economy in 2004. Information packets were provided for attendees with thorough information on how economic factors will affect commercial real estate this year.

Our thanks to our CBR investment firm, Smith Barney and especially Tom Kahle, Senior Vice President of Investment, for bringing in Mr. Litt.

C/I REALTORS® - We Love our Board

Jim Coridan offered comments geared specifically to the CI Members pointing out the added value and benefits of CBR membership for the Central Ohio commercial REALTOR®.

He reviewed legislative issues thwarted last year which would have had significant negative financial impact on commercial REALTORS® - specifically the Taft tax proposal and the Ohio DAS bid for commissions.  Another example was the financial assistance provided NAIOP in their successful fight to prevent the full financial burden of electric hook-ups on the builder - and consequently the buyer.  He pointed out the critical role CBR and CORPAC played in these successes.

Jim ended by displaying a message board he made (see picture) which summed it up by saying “Columbus C/I REALTORS®. We love our Board”

CORPAC Recognition

CORPAC Co-Chairs Louise Potter, Scott Hrabcak and Ronda Sullivan presented NAR Crystal R and Sterling R plaques to CBR members who contributed $2,500+ and $1,000 respectively to CORPAC in 2003 (pictured below).  Although their 2004 hasn’t been established, we anticipate it will be slightly more than the record of $111,612 set last year.

Volunteer Service Award

CBR honored nine of its members with the Volunteer Service Award. The VSA is presented to members of the Board to recognize their outstanding commitment to both their industry and community.  In order to receive the award, REALTORS® must have accumulated at least 10 points in service during the award year.  Examples of service to the industry would include serving on a Board committee or attending CBR meetings.  Almost any kind of community service  would qualify from serving on a school board to scout leader to donating blood.
