Marty Majka

Marty Majka, of Coldwell Banker King Thompson, is committed to community involvement and focused on helping those less fortunate then ourselves. For four consecutive years he has served as chair of the Salesian Boys & Girls Club Food Baskets Committee. During the holidays, this committee provides 80 to 100 food baskets for inner-city families and individuals.

As chair of this committee, Marty coordinates all efforts to make this event a success — from spearheading the fundraising effort, to picking up food, to delivering baskets to those who are unable to pick them up. Funds are raised in the community and through the local church. Food is provided by various community grocery stores and food pantries.

Through the Knights of Columbus, Marty also volunteers for the Measure up Campaign (the biggest fundraiser of the year), which raises funds for mentally challenged children. All proceeds go to the On Your Own program to provide living and job opportunities for these individuals.

When asked about his community involvement, Marty says, “You get out of a community what you put into it. There is nothing more satisfying then helping a less fortunate family or individual and to bring a smile to their faces. I have an opportunity to serve the less fortunate, which makes me a better person.”
