November 2003 Home Sales

November - Home Sales now higher than 2002

(December 16, 2003)  Central Ohio home sales for the first eleven months of the year have now exceeded sales for the entire year of 2002.  The 22,621 home sales as of November 30, 2003 is 9.5 percent ahead of the same period last year and has eclipsed the 2002 year end total sales of 22,267, according to the Columbus Board of REALTORS® Multiple Listing Service.

“2003 will go down as the greatest year yet for home sales.” said Bob Miller, President of the Columbus Board of REALTORS®.   “Based on local interest, I see no reason why this record won’t be broken yet again in 2004.”

The year to date average home sale price at the end of November is $167,364 which is 5.6 percent higher than 2002 sale prices.  This increase coupled with the increase in actual sales brings the total sales volume to $3.7 billion – a 15.6 percent increase over last year during the same period.

“The value of a home in this market continues to appreciate at a very respectable rate“, says Miller.  “It’s apparent that Central Ohioans know a good investment when they see one.”
